I don't know how many of you had read about this in my Gran Turismo 5: Prologue thread, but, in Europe, Sony held a competition within the game where the winners earned a chance to race for real in the 24 Hours of Dubai.
Check out this documentary on how they selected the two who would get a chance to compete in the race!
