Why is is that some Primers will sell a 'pre-owned' part ....

I've seen that every now and then, certain Primers will put a part for sale that is "pre-owned","excellent" and heck, even "new" condition for not only very close(90%+), AT but in some cases, EVEN ABOVE the price that one can get at say oemacuraparts.com or a vendor. Most of us know that the going rate for "good conditioned" used parts is about 50% +/- 25% if "poor" or "excellent" condition.

For example, I recently saw a part for let's say.. $22.00 that sells for $19.00 on oemacuraparts.com. Granted, it was in origional packaging, unopened and unused, but still, is it worth "bumping" a thread month after month for $5.00 . Wouldn't it be more rational to lower the price to $13.00 and make the Primer feel like they got a
"good deal," and consequentally get a higher itrade ranking.....?

...And of course it's that + shipping + paypal 3% + maybe I'll ship it in 1 - 2 weeks after you pay me, that is of course assuming you don't do business like Marc Jupiter.

    I just find that...............funny

Anyone that would pay more for a used part than a new part is an idiot and I don't think anyone listing a used part for such a price would find too many idiots to buy it.

I can't imagine there are too many listings that fit your description but if you don't mind linking to it we can maybe see if there's more to the story--maybe without shipping the new part appears cheaper than the used part but the listing of any used part for more than new doesn't make any sense at all to the point where I'd say it's almost guaranteed there's something you're missing but I could be wrong.

I haven't seen a used part, but I've seen an "excellent" or "unopened" part for between 95%-110%.. and it's usually by a few bucks! Granted, the person is thinking "well, I paid more at the dealership," but that's your loss and 99.99999999999999% are just not going to be sympathetic to it

I don't think anyone needs to be named - people should charge however much they want and let market/supply take care of it. All I just saying is that I find that.......... funny, and though-provoking.

Fair enough... in fact, I'm about to do that, thanks for reminding me!
I am mainly referring to fairly easily accessible parts...

Well sure, if it were rare it wouldn't be available for the "new" price because it wouldn't be available at all! In that case the only price point is whatever price the seller sets it at which is determined by demand. If it can't be obtained from a distributor the list price next to it becomes totally irrelevant.

I can think of many parts that would sell for potentially more than what they sold for new. I guarantee a factory-wrapped, unused set of Ivory seats would command some serious money as would just about any unused Ivory part.

I haven't been scrutinizing the parts-for-sale forum as much as I used to but I think it's safe to chalk most of these types of listings up to plain old dumbassery and I think only a couple are really that dumb. I still think most of the listings you describe have more to them like the part in question really might actually be harder to obtain than thought.

I could not resist this thread, but i also have found out it is very true that the listed price is either equal the dealer price; and not only that the buyer has to pay for the shipping while the dealer offer free shipping. Who is stupid enough to buy

If no one wants to point it out, i will . For examples, 1) EOM car cover was asking for more than the dealer asks for. 2) The listed rare exhaust that he paid for $3k and asks for $3k after being used for #'s of miles on it.

After it is a free market, supply and demand. Who wants it badly will pay for it!
