Hella Flush NSX Thread

BUMP!

Thank you, synth19. I digested the info on that link, I think. I'm gonna come back and re-read it tomorrow.

That said, I pose this. If Honda employs the best R & D designers, experts, and engineers to be found in our world (pls go with me here), who am I to second guess their talent and product, and alter my NSX suspension/offset/wheel/tire set-up OTHER THAN for just looks/appeal/coolness?

I certainly understand that it is a personal choice. But I am interested to hear other viewpoints. i.e. (or e.g.) Would you track a "HellaFlush" NSX? Or just show it.

The NSX was purposely built as a combination of compromises. People modify their cars to meet their preferences even if just for pure looks.

People who track their cars with 235 fronts are basically running a 'Hellaflush' setup. I'd definitely prefer to track a Hellaflush setup if it meant wider tires.

Hellaflush is purely for aesthetic pruposes, it is not good for the track at all because the extreme camber actually decreases the contact area of the tire with the road. Flush is fine for tracking, hellaflush is not. The best setup (for handling) would be getting the widest wheel possible with an offset that would make it close to flush with the fender.

I personally LOVE the look of hellaflush but if I wanted to track my car I would not have it... You could always do street and track setups but you would be getting a lot of alignments!

Here's my car at near full suspension compression in a corner. I would classify my car as "flush", not "hella flush", and I'm running 17x8 et37, 18x10et35 Advan RS with Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec: 215 40R17 and 275 35R18 which are optimal in respect to the design of the NSX. I am not going to second guess the good engineers at Honda ;) Anything lower in offsets makes the car look ridiculous to me. When I see hellaflush cars, dumped on coilovers scraping everything on the road I see "poseur", not "carguy".

exactly, hella flush works great at rest.Driving on less than tabletop smooth roads = hella annoying.

You can go more aggressive if you want, and not look ridiculous. :) I have the same wheels but my offsets (with spacers):

17x8 +32 (215/40)
18x10 +30 (265/35)

I think the best setup in the rear would be 18x10 +27. But the front is as aggressive as it gets (with that tire size). Only some slight rubbing @ full lock.

I've followed what you've achieved with 5mm spacers but I'm just trying to keep spacers out of the picture (personal preference). Also too, I'm already not too comfortable with the fact that as my wheels fit now, with the way the bodywork tapers downwards towards the ground my front tires are already poking out enough to make me worry about stone dings on my fenders!

Here is my new set up! Time to upgrade the brakes!

I bought these wheels from adrenaline and I PM'd him recently but he must have not logged on in a while. But I noticed he posted these wheels in different threads but each time some of the info changes. When I asked to clarify I haven't got a reply back. In some threads I saw he used a 3mm spacer, this one is 15? Can anyone tell me which spacer I should get? I do not want any rubbing at all, front or rear. in this thread he says he has 285s, in another he says hes got 275s. I got the wheels without tires and im going to run the same 215 in front and 275 rear.

I can see how this can be confusing as some people mention the offsets WITH spacers and without. A few questions:

1. What are the factory offsets?
2. How low is your car, what suspension are you running?

1. No idea.....
2. Its dropped maybe 1.7.... 2 inches with Tien Monoflex coilovers.

sorry man i didnt get a chance to get back to you. I used a 15mm for the front, no spacer at the rear. No rubbing front or rear. I had to shave the rear caliper bracket 1mm so the rear would work without a spacer though. I used 275s at first then bought 285s after they wore out. Neither would rub.

I was curious about these wheels, in silver. Just curious what brand and if they come in 18/19's. Anyone know the make? I PM'ed the member asking him, but did not get a reply.
