Sony HD Video Camera Model HDR-SR5 Question

Back about a year and a half ago, I came on here to get a recommendation for a video camera. The Sony HDR-SR5 was recommended. I absolutely love it, so thank you for that.

Question is: How do I put the videos from my computer on DVD? Also, I do not have a dvd burner on my computer, so I will have to share with Steve's computer and put on DVD from his computer.

I am able to download the videos to my computer, but now it is in an AVCHD format and I cannot change the format to upload to a DVD.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you
    Renee

    Hi Renee,

First tell that ferrari-driving cheapass to install a DVD burner in your computer!

AVCHD uses a video encoding format called H.264. DVD's use something called MPEG-2. So you need something to convert from one to the other.

There are plenty of dedicated applications out there that do this, but I'm sure there are also DVD burner apps that will automatically do this conversion for you as well. Unfortunately I'm a Mac guy and don't know much about PC software, but hopefully someone can provide a more useful manner.

In the meantime go bug steve to cough up for the burner! :-)

    hi,
some googling came up with this:
    http://www.elecard.com/products/prod...verter-studio/
Which looks like it may do what you need.

But just remember, you won't be able to put HD footage onto a regular DVD. It will have to be resized or cropped smaller to fit a (standard-rez) 720x486 sized frame.

actually I just noticed the software above is $250, so try this free version of this one first---> http://www.videohelp.com/tools/TMPGEnc_Xpress

    Hi

I have not looked into this in detail. But in the changelog they talk about H.264.

It is free so please check it out.
