Brilliant Speed Control in Canada

I don’t know about you, but this would slow me down! People slow down and try to “straddle” the hole, then breathe a sign of relief they completely cleared it!

This is actually a marketing stunt designed for manufacturers of vehicle suspensions. Scroll down and look at all three pictures.

Pretty clever, huh??? Especially if moved around each day. Isn’t art wonderful?

The Concern would be that the road users might not slow down and drive into the VERY REAL threat of actual pot holes!

I would think that could cause an accident if someone were to see it last minute and swerve...imagine if that were real and you were driving the NSX

If they were in all of the lanes then swerving would put one of the wheels in the "crater" for sure.....

You are right ....... a half-assed marketing stunt that could turn sour for some nervous driver. Not clever at all.

I would think the Canadian billboards that warn of speeding fines totalling several thousand $$$, should be enough.

I just came back from Toronto for business and noticed that people drive slow on the wide open and gorgeous freeway.

then I saw the $10,000 fine for speeding signs.

Now, that's ridiculous....

I was fooled I thought it was a real pothole. That probably would cause some accidents. I know if I saw that at the last second I would of done something very risky in the NSX.

What's worse is Finland's speeding policy where it's a percentage of your gross salary...although I suppose maybe that's more of a fair way to do it...

One of Finland's richest men has been handed a record 170,000 euros speeding ticket, thanks to the country's policy of relating the fine to your income.
Jussi Salonoja, the 27-year-old heir to a family-owned sausage empire, was given the £116,000 ticket after being caught driving 80km/h in a 40km/h zone.

Helsinki police came up with the figure after tax office data showed that Mr Salonoja earned close to £7m in 2002.

If his penalty stands it will beat the previous record of almost 80,000 euros.

That figure (£54,000) was paid in 2000 by Finnish internet millionaire Jaakko Rytsola, when he was caught speeding.

Yet Mr Salonoja could yet get his penalty reduced, as was the case with Nokia executive Anssi Vanjoki.

In 2002, Mr Vanjoki's 116,000 euros fine was reduced by no less than 95% due to his drop in income following a downturn in the mobile phone maker's profits.

Hmm. I see possibilities here. Someone could produce a line of Trompe l'oeil potholes, woodland creatures, playing children, dead bodies, broken bridges, road spikes, paint spills, Salvador Dali-esque surreal scenes, etc., that one can put down on the lane leading up to the house, for the amusement/discouragement of visitors.

I think its more like your insurance could go up to $10,000 a year depending on your record if you get caught for speeding. They might as well cut my jacobs off if they are going to charge that much for a speeding ticket.

if the fine were 10 grand a lot of people would not pull over.
