AC blower and cooling fan goes ON after the ignition is turned OFF

hi everyone!

we have here a 1994 nsx with CTSC and the strangest thing is happening. after driving it and turning off the ignition, the AC (air conditioning) blowers go on and the radiator cooling fan turns on until the battery dies! i thought it would stop but the fans keep on blowing! kills the battery every time.

can someone shed some light on this crazy issue? i am thinking about going to acura or an nsx specialist nearby but before this i would love to hear if anyone else has this experience and what was done to resolve it?

thanks guys!

so i was thinking in my head of a workaround for this problem UNTIL the real solution is found.

does anyone think this can work... we make a kill switch of some kind that cuts the power to the negative battery terminal (its just like pulling off the negative terminal on the battery itself which is what im reading some people are doing to prevent their car batteries from dying because of electrical issues such as mine)... my question is this, is this safe to do? if so, does anyone have a DIY to install a kill switch that resides between the negative terminal on the battery and the negative cable to the car?

please help as i cannot find a solution for my current problem except to carry a 10mm wrench with me everywhere i go. for a few weeks this nsx is my daily driver thats why i would have to do this everytime i pull over and park the car for work.

also, have you guys ever heard of a battery-disconnect switch? wonder if this will do?

has there ever been any changes to the head and park lamp wiring?
I know this is a strange question, but my experience in wiring Day Time Running Lamps for US NSXs imported to Canada, people cut corners and make big assumptions. I have seen two situations when the park lamps are on, the AC fans run. (key on or off) Bad wiring practices and current feeding back through add on wiring was the case on each.

Just a shot in the dark!

the headlights have been modified with HID projectors, the ballast is actually exposed in the compartment just behind the headlamps. there is a possibility of that getting wet which is causing the issue. today i had the nsx washed and the problem came back! i was good for about 3 days. i really think now the water/moisture is causing this issue.

as i said in another similar thread, i hope that a friends friend (referral) when he takes a look at it in a few days can find out if possibly wires are getting wet somewhere and is the reason for the strange occurrence.

I used Griots kill switch to do this until my problem was solved. I sent you a PM on how I solved this problem..

sweet! thanks and good looking out guys!

Any update on whether the wiring for the HID / moisture was the problem?

I've got a 91 CTSC with a similar problem where the AC won't turn off while the car is running. Unlike yours, it doesn't stay on after the car is turned off though.

I also have HIDs that I installed a few months ago, but I didnt run into any problems until immediately after getting LED tail lights put in. Not sure if it's coincidence or somehow related to that.

no update yet bro. still ONLY happens to me for about 2 days or so after i wash the nsx. somewhere, something is getting wet and causing this issue... but once it evaporates/dries... car is fine. ANNOYING! especially since i have to park the car out of the garage for a few more weeks it gets dirty even with a car cover on it very fast. as a matter of fact i have to wash it tomorrow to get it nice for supercar sunday = /

Just had this happen after washing my car. Your AC relay is likely full of water. It is located in the engine bay on the passenger side.

Pull back the rubber sock, empty the water and dry it out using a compressor hose. Clean the terminals with a flathead driver or mild file, then reinstall.
Check out the corrosion you will find.

Thanks, but the credit goes to Cody @ LoveFab. I called him in distress and he led me straight to it. I'd be remiss if I didn't give him props.

i am due for a wash today as well so if this is it, ill be sure to wrap the relay box in a giant condom or something waterproof

i cannot find this relay. can someone show me a picture or better describe the location of this?

Yes. My fan is removed, and I found my relay dangling upside down hanging from the harness. I don't have my NSX anymore so I can't show you a photo.

On a side note, you really shouldn't have started a second thread for the same question. Bad form.

Because some of the people who have worked on my car are complete twats. This is how I found it, not how it should be. I believe it was Honda Marysville who forgot to remount this after installing my Accusump.
