I called and there is no set price. They are taking bids over the next month or two. Because of the location they figure there are 3 types of potential buyers. First would be someone who would keep it as is and they figure those bids to be in the 1k per acre range. Next would be farmers that might bid in the 5k per acre range but with limited water in the area that may be an issue. Last would be someone that wants to build solar farms and bid in the 10k per acre range but they may want to do a 2 to 3 year lease while they get permits and other things okayed before they can build so that may be an issue with Honda as they want this to be sold this year. So they may be willing to take less money just to get it done asap.

That is for a seprate parcel of 457 acres. The main one where the tracks are located is 3,797 acres.

After reading the bike forum there is a lot of interest there. Maybe we should look at getting other groups involved, car and bike, to make a bid. There are so many here in SoCal and the surrounding area. Something else the real estate agent said was they received calls from a lot of groups wanting to rent the the facility for weekends or week long events if someone bought it and kept it as is.

Looks tempting, but sadly given the current economic climate it might be a tough sell to many investors as a track only facility.

If they are able to bring onboard an experienced party/consultant that is familiar with the cap-ex/op-ex for running a track facility perhaps they might have a chance to preserve the facility.

Honda has a huge TRC (Trans Research Center) test track in Ohio next to their R&D where all the engineering is done and they no longer have need for this one.
