    McLaren Venge for $8000

Lust after a McLaren F1 car all you want—you’ll never own one. Lust after this McLaren-engineered bike and … you just might stand a chance. But it will run you around $8,000 for the frame set alone. The Venge project started as Specialized’s first aero-road offering—a category that combines the slippery shapes of triathlon designs with the nimble handling of traditional bikes. Once Specialized had a frame it was happy with—the S-Works Venge—the company challenged McLaren to lower the weight and increase lateral stiffness using the same materials and molds. Though the bikes look identical, the McLaren weighs 14 percent less and is 15 percent stiffer (for better handling and efficiency). The differences stem from how the carbon fiber is cut, oriented, and cured, with the McLaren taking three times longer to make. Two days after the bike’s debut, Australian Matt Goss rode it to victory in Italy’s Milan-San Remo. And like an F1 driver, he got his wheels for free.

I like how the seat has a big hole in it so you can take a big dump while on those looong rides. Also, it might be hard to ride without pedals. I kid I kid lol

My conjectures were that the saddle's design was to mitigate the female riders from attempting to "sin" on the saddle from the road vibration which would lead them to a moment in the "clouds and moons". this can be a dangerous condition leading to convulsions, brief blindness and ringing in the ears. Also, the legs muscles during cycling would cramp as a result of the vital organs competing for oxygen.

I just got back from the Specialized Bicycle dealer meeting and got to play with one of these. I think they were going to build less than 100 of these at
$17,000 or so as a complete bike. Jeff ( now accepting deposits

That's a killer road bike for sure.

Didn't Mark Cavendish just take the Green Jersey at the Tour de France on one? Looked like it...

Side note: Allstar I have one of your NSX bike racks and will be using it for my roadie!

Any particular reason why anyone would spend that much money on a bike that sits in the garage most of the time?

Someone who's buying that bike will be a hardcore road rider like alot of us who regularly put on anywhere between 100 and 300km per week...not really a poser bike.
