Post An idea for NSXPO '03

    According to this http://infineonraceway.com/gallery/m...y/tunnel.shtml
They have a go-kart track (and presumably go-karts). I think it would be fun if there were some sort of an organized karting activity during NSXPO.

Fun indeed, as was experienced at NSXPO 2002.

Karting is one of the activities under consideration for NSXPO 2003.

As Andy noted, it worked out very well at NSXPO 2002, where it took place at an indoor karting facility on a non-track day during the event.

The drag strip is part of the road course. So we could not have a drag strip activity at the same time as the drivers school. And I think the track rental rate is too prohibitive to allow renting the drag strip for a third day.

I am interested in the track event, however, I have absolutely no experience on the track. Is there anything I need to know, learn, prepare before hand? Is there such thing as beginner's level track event during nsxpo?

As they say, you are in good hands ....

There will be a run group for beginners and novices.

However, since October is a few months away, take your NSX to some local autocross or car clinics so you appreciate its handling, spins in controlled environments, and overall feel. Also if there is a local track that offers driving schoold, check it out and see their program and perhaps you can attend one of their events.

Since you live in Orange County, hook up with Mark Johnson's program [aka DaliRacing at www.DaliRacing.com] at Pahrump ..... you will meet some other NSXs too ....

Drivers are grouped based on their experience. There are always plenty of beginners. For example, at NSXPO '99, 36 of the 104 students had never been in a track event before.

If you are interested in participating in other track events prior to NSXPO 2003, of course, you're welcome to do so, but it is not at all necessary.

Prior to the event, you will receive a packet of information that will tell you everything you need to know beforehand, what items to bring, and how to prepare. Preparation is minimal and consists primarily of making sure your car is in good working condition; no special equipment or services are required just for the track.
