Hi everyone,

I have a 94 with 40 000 miles and I need to replace tb and wp for the next summer.

I need help to know what parts numbers I need to order from Acura dealer in US
I do somes search on the board but Im not sure about what I need to do.

I found this but it's a little bit old information, let me know if is still good about parts number only.

Do you plan on doing this job yourself, are you a memeber of the NSXCC yet?

I'm will be doing tb on my '91 Project car in the coming months as well myself. There discounts to NSXCC members on parts here too which were very close to U.S pricing.

You might also need the crank tool as well, and you might as well do your Valve cover gaskets, vtec spool valve, oil pan gaskets even if they are not leaking now might be wise to do while everything is apart. Also keep in mind leaking CV boots, Main relay, Ignition swtich are all common problems as well.

As far as I understand this is what you need:

Standard Parts:
Water pump 19200-PR7-A03 (for 97-05) or 19200-PR7-305 (for 91-96 Part Number was superseded by first one)
Timing belt 14400-PR7-A01

Other Parts you may need:
Timing belt adjuster/tensioner 14510-PR7-A01
Alternator belt 31110-PR7-A01 (91-96 5spd.)
Alternator belt 31110-PR7-A12 (91-05 A/T)
Alternator belt 31110-PR7-A04 (01-05 6spd.)
A/C compressor belt 38920-PR7-A01 (91-00 all & 01 A/T)
A/C compressor belt 38920-PR7-A02 (91-05 all)

Valve Cover Gaskets:
Valve Cover Gasket 12341-PR7-A01 (2)
Spark Plug Gasket 12343-PR7-A00 (6)
Cover Washers 90442-PR7-A00 (12)
*Complete Set - 12030-PR7-010 (2)

VTEC Spool Valves Seals 1991-1994:
External Gasket 15825-PR3-005 (2)
Internal Gasket 36172-PR3-005 (2)

VTEC Spool Valves Seals 1995+:
External Gasket 15825-P08-005 (2)
Internal Gasket 36172-P08-015 (2)

Cam Plugs:
12513-PR7-A00 (4)

Cam Seals:
91213-PR7-A01 (4)

Oil Pan:
Gasket 11251-PH7-000

Harmonic Balancer:
OEM PULLEY, CRANKSHAFT 13811-PR7-A02

Not sure if I'm missing anything but the above should be correct part #'s double check them to make sure before ordering.

While you are at it, and have the TB off, you may want to check the harmonic balancer (aka crankshaft pulley), as there have been cases of these coming apart. if you are the kind of person who does things "just in case"- I would recommend replacing it. Do a search here on Prime, or ask me about what happened to mine last year- I did not suffer any damage, but others have not been so lucky.

You can replace it with the stock one, or there is also a "super" AEM version, which is supposed to be superior. (http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/engine_performance_products/NSX/ATI/Super_Damper/) Some have also claimed that the AEM version increases throttle response and smooths out idle. I'd like to try this, but did not know about it when I had my TB/pulley replaced last year.

In addition, you could (should?) also install a shield which prevents a damaged pulley from causing catastrophic damage. http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/engine_performance_products/NSX/Cedar_Ridge/Damper_Shield/ My car has one...now. It is an insurance policy in case my pulley was to fail in another 20 years.

My mecanic at the dealer will do the job.

I need upgrading to the new style lower timing cover ? If yes, what is the advantage and is it bolt-on ?

Thanks alot guys

Was the timing belt done previously to this as you might already have the new lower tb cover?

In the event your water pump weeps coolant would be allowed to be expelled outside the cover, instead of the old it could be splashed all over the timing belt and inside the cover. A weep hole was moved in the '97+ pump, new pumps are the same price as the old pumps and new pump will fit the 91-96 cars. Updated cover is direct bolt on.

Coolant on Timing belt = not good news. Seeing how the old part # for the pump was superseded you will need the new cover.

19200-PR7-A03 Water pump
11810-PR7-A02 '97 lower timing belt cover 1
11816-PR7-000 Grommet

From my first post I noted the part is currently showing by most vendors 19200-PR7-305 is now superseded 19200-PR7-A03. Note that 19200-PR7-305 is referred to a 'set' while like Larry mentioned comes with update cover and grommet. I just checked some online vendors and some may still have the old 'set' and some show 19200-PR7-A03 meant for +97 cars or any car with the already updated cover installed.

You should have the new cover if your tb was done approx 6~7yrs after '93... if its never been done consider yourself lucky and you have a horseshoe up somewhere that it has not let go since new. I did my first tb back sometime ago ~2001ish it already has the updated cover on it. I will be doing it again in a few months.

I'd advise you check your current cover, you can get down under the car and lookup shine a flashlight or down the strut tower area down you'll see the hole in the updated cover.

nikey22 did a nice job showing the differences old vs new see pics posted:

How do you spend $1200 in parts for a job that runs $1500-$2000 total usually including parts?
