Advan AVS Model 5's, where are you at?

ok who from here picked up that 17/18 silver set from the prime classifieds  ?!?!?! those are amongst the best offsets/sizes imo for 17/18.

they are also great offsets for Advan AVS Model 5's in 18-19's too.

i stand corrected!! while in general the advan 5s are hard to find ive noticed that 18x10/19x10 +45 are EXTREMELY rare. more often i see them in the more aggressive +10 (little too aggressive for most) offset.

they are also great offsets for Advan AVS Model 5's in 18-19's too.

Now... just SLAM it!!!!

:D

Anyone know the specific color of these advan wheels? I'm going to powder coat mine and it's hard to pick the right silver.

are all yours bronze? i think the common techqniue is to get the shop to replicate the oem silver silver color if (assuming you have at least one silver wheel). nobody other then advan seems to know the oem paint code for the wheels.

personally i would make it just a slight-hair darker then the oem silver + with as wet/gloss look as possible.

Here's a picture of what I have. Looks good but not as good as the brighter silver. Anyone know what powder coat color to ask for?

Another picture of what I'm looking for. Are these stock color? If so anyone know if there's a powder coat match?

Thanks!

Go to any good powder coater and they'll have a ton of samples of colors from one stage to two stage colors and matt/pearl/flake/and all that stuff. Lots will have color booklets as well but the good ones will have samples of their colors they stock on a piece of metal on display so you can take them out in the sun and see the color in direct light. It's a lot different seeing it in direct sunlight then in a showroom.

The issue is I don't have an original wheel to compare. I was hoping someone already did it. :)

Powder coating is hardly ever going to be a direct match to painted wheels since it's near impossible to match and most powder coaters aren't going to take the time to experiment for a $100 wheel job. Also I'm pretty sure the original wheels are painted and the base primer is powder coated on?

There are so many awesome colors out there and hundreds of different shades of silver. If you go with powder coating first you need to figure out what color, then if you want flake/pearl, and then consider most powder coating colors that use flake and pearl require a 2 stage process of a powder clear. There was a very nice bengal silver or something that had slight flake "think the size of pearl in paint since flake usually refers to something larger than pearl", and it was a single stage.

You can check out powderbuythepound.com for colors too.

You don't need the "original silver". Just go to a powder coater and check out their colors. You'll be more than pleased with the selections. I go to boneheadperformance for powder coating in PA when I was up there. They came out smooth with no runs and also chemically strip the wheels which is important.

Nobody yet. :frown:

I had TONS of interest, but no one is willing to pull the trigger. I don't know if it's the lip damage or the mismatched colors that are putting people off. Or maybe buyers are being cautious because I'm not a regular here, which is understandable (and expected). Either way, I priced them to sell, taking the damage and refinishing into consideration. I also took into consideration the fact that most other vehicles do not run a 17/18 wheel set, so my best bet to sell them as a complete set would be here.

The movers will be arriving tomorrow to pack all my belongings, so if the wheels don't sell by today (as in the buyer actually Paypal-ing or transferring the money, not just saying they will), I'm just going to have to throw them in with all my stuff. That means I will be forced to pull them off the market because I won't be getting them back for a couple of months. I may have to get them repaired and refinished myself when I get them back.

UPDATE:
Nevermind, I just sold them. Right in the nick of time! Glad to know they are going to good home.
