If i'm wrong.. bro.. a triangle is the strongest shape. Put that last piece on there.

You have an aftermarket rstb - your post says "after seeing the price of aftermarket rstb's you decided to keep yours"..

Your bar is worth more used than the single piece dominant brace available that owners rant and rave about.

Ive been on prime way too long...
Well almost right Ross!!! Read on but as long as I'm at it, give me the benefit of your Prime Time and tell me who made that V brace? And yeah about my comment about prices I figured since I had some hardware already laying about why not rework them?

Bingo!!! Exactly what I was planning to do when I reinstalled the V brace and I noticed that the things ALMOST stacked. Which would have gotten me one of the shapes on Ross' top 10. I figured that would strengthen the chassis more even though the car had that V brace already in place when I got the car as a BBSC so I have no idea if there ever was a base for that triangle.

When I put the brace back on after polishing I discovered that I will need to notch the bottom left corner of the coupe to fit. Any input on how to take about 1/4" off the coupe bar?

3rd is stupid, isn't it Tim? 55mph in 3rd and it wheelhops. Did you retain TCS? Are you series 1 or 2? TCS a fuctionality IMHO that actually works better in high power apps. At lower power TCS is too invasive and at higher power there is so much power there that TCS can't kill all of it and just takes enough wheelspin out. I see Alex wrestle with the wheel in his videos and I don't have to catch mine like that (usually). I still TCS since I am still running the FIC. Waiting for Cody to free up to migrate it to series 2 stand alone... You got your car back?

This actually happened when I had the ELITE turbo setup where we were using the original Autowave modified AEM. The modified AEM never worked properly except under throttle or floored when it was running open loop so it did not retain the TCS. After I went to the Lovefab, I was using the FIC and retained TCS and only had a little wheelspin but I was more careful to avoid cold tires and full throttle. I also switched to 285 SO3 and this helped. Will have to wait to see what the future holds, I went with a stroked engine (3.5L) and a smaller turbo for more torque and better response. He recently picked up my car and hopefully I will have it back next week. Because of the smaller turbo and a change in the wastegate venting, I know that there is some fabrication necessary. I think that my car will be the first NSX that he will tune with the series 2 stand alone from SOS although I know that he has done a number of S2000. He feels that it is easier than the original series 1.

When I first drove Tims car I spun his wheels in 3rd gear with a car coming in the other direction. Scary to say the least

You have the early version of the comptech brace, just missing a piece. They still have some parts and you may be able to buy the missing piece from them.

Here is mine that was just powder coated but hasn't been installed yet.

I had always vented mine to atmosphere with only small filters. Never had issues except for minimally dirty manifold covers. I am still trying to decide whether I will use a catch can or simply vent again.

Mike, you are my go-to guy this weekend. First the vacuum and now the brace.
    Thanks!

Do you use the stock engine cover or motor exposed?

Re: Coupe bar on a targa

I think the cross member of the RSTB is a critical component here. Without it there is nothing tying the the rear together with good strength. I think that it would be best to give it some thought and consider the STMPO RSTB. I recently installed in in my 99' Targa and with the top down on the freeway the shaking that used to exist with the OEM targa brace is completely gone. For the price it is well worth it.

On a side note the Front Chassis Brace is more than worth it's weight in gold. I would high recommend Ross / STMPO chassis reinforcement products.

I did not know about the FCB, thanks.

For the record and for anyone else looking for a similar CT bar I spoke with Chris on June 25th, 2012. He said that they have assorted hardware for this style brace and that he is going to do a run of components to make his parts complete assemblies. He said a month or so for production and he offered to run a brace for me- which I thought really good support.

CT engineering is going to produce one?

The front chassis brace was originally produced by Honda for the NSX-R along with a lower brace and both Honda parts are available. The STMPO bar appears to be a replacement for the upper R bar and looks more heavy duty. If i tracked my car, i would probably buy one from Ross but since i don't i'll keep the NSX-R braces. Do they offer the lower bar too?

Yes. Apparently they have a number of the assorted components that comprise the complete unit. CT is going to manufacture the various components needed to make complete kits.

The strut bar is a component that they do not have and had already scheduled production for, so they offered to produce an extra one for me and pull it before anodization since I'm going to polish it out.

Oh, you mean to complete your targa brace. I thought you were saying they were going to produce the front chassis brace. I knew they had some parts cause i thought i was going to need a piece when one of mine got misplaced.

Not a replacement for the upper but it was a part made from a different point of view and we arent married to aluminum like honda is/was

Honestly... the benefit on the FCB has been noticed in street cars more than track cars.. 9doors did a good write up here...

This thread below and all over the internet... you won’t find a negative comment from any of the 500 plus bars made and sold... so there are quite a few people to ask if it’s worth it.

a set of type r bars sold used almost buys our bar... but the lower bar is a bad ass part so keep it.

    regardless…. Nice wheels
Leavin tire marks on the freeway...

Guys, I have had several of the STMPO FCB on my cars. There IS a noticeable difference in the car with it. I Really like that product. Actually I need to get in touch with Ross and get one.
