Want a Mid-rise lift for the garage. Anyone use an Atlas lift?

I have been looking for some time for a snapon midrise lift for the garage on craigslist but just have not found one that was priced right. I looked at garage forums and saw some good reviews on both the Atlas Kwik bay 7,000lb lift and the Atlas TD6MR portable lift. Looks like both would require ramps to drive over/on. The design is slightly different with the TD6MR very similar to the snapon midrise lift. Has anyone used either of these lifts to remove the engine and/or transmission? I know that Bryan used his snapon midrise to remove the engine at least once and that worked but I did not want to get one of these then not have the room or access to drop the engine. The TD6MR has 12.5" higher lift than the Kwik bay and similar height advantage as compared to the snap on mid-rise.

check direct lift first. I bought a four post from them, plus you'll usually have local dealer support.

Have anyone use the max jax lift's?? I like the portability pn the max jax, just the height kinda sucks.

i got the 7k lift from costco. was about $2k, and $400 to install. works great. wide ramps.

Was it the atlas 7k lift you got? We're you able to drive up the ramps with your nsx? Is your nsx lowered? My fear is I would have to build a ramp. My nsx is just on the lower Pearce on the bilstein's.

I have no problems with my snap on lift getting my car with 4 boards.

I bought and use the MaxJax half height lift from Danmar.
I like it a lot. It's a 2 posted hydraulic lift that can be easily removed and stored away.
I'ts short enough to work within the confines of many residential garage heights.
I use a mechanic's work stool with wheels to easily work under the car.
I bought it about 3 years ago for under $2,000.

The pros and cons of a 2 post hydraulic lift vs. the scissors lifts:
2 post lift provides full access to the bottom of the car.
2 post lift does restrict the access into the car through the doors while the car is positioned on the lift.
The 2 post lifts need to be anchored into the floor. (The MaxJax comes with threaded concrete anchors and wheels so that it can easily be unbolted form the floor and rolled away for storage.)

Will that scissor lift allow you to drop the motor? Does it raise the car high enough and would it interfere with the engine dropping?

I had an Atlas Kwik bay. I used it a hand full of times never removed an engine with it they work good if you don't have the clearance for a larger lift. Sold it shortly after I was able to find a slightly used two post for under $2K. I also have a 4 post for storage/changing oil. I recently picked up a jack that fits between the runners of the 4 post to see if it would be more versatile and it helps. But nothing beats the two post for any kind of serious work. Im pretty sure Larry B uses a drive over lift like the one I1O101I posted a picture of. He dose use a custom made ramps to get lowered cars on them. I wonder if that so he get the hight needed the remove engines?

I have never used this, just ran across it on a google search.
Its seems to give adequate clearance for most maintenance with max 26" of lift
Aside from dropping the engine/trans, it might do the trick for you

Though you would have to jack it up (with the middle lift point on both sides to gain clearance as the unit is 7 inches).
