Blodi's Lovefab LF600 Engine and Turbo Build...

UPDATE:

Took it to the local dyno last night and was able to have Cody do a little massaging remotely as well. My rear vtec output on my AEM has always been a little funky, so Devin was nice enough draw up an alternate circuit to get both solenoids popping. So we wanted to adjust AFR's accordingly.

Now, you can see there is a good deal of correction there. But, it was stupid hot and 86% humidity. Also the car will normally see 1 psi more in cooler/dryer conditions. This was with a peak of 12.6psi
More boost could be thrown at it, but my 750cc injectors are pretty much maxed out and that's with the meth helping out too.....1000cc's willl have to be a winter project. Also, the smoke is from a completely inadequate catch can setup.... one of Cody's setups is on order.

Unfortunately, I couldn't try it out on the way home as it was pouring rain. :(

Great numbers, in spite of the weather conditions.
Bigger injectors for a larger safety margin sounds like a good idea, but until then.....enjoy your supercar!

Brian
(I REALLY need to get my engine back ;^)

blodi, as an FYI, Injector Dynamics just came out with their ID1300s...they feature all stainless internals, which will hold up better should you choose to go E85 down the road.

Might as well do ID2000s and be done. Add another fuel pump, some larger lines(AKA the complete LF1200 fuel setup), and lets see what 20psi will do ;) We are dealers for Injector Dynamics, for everyones information.

Good diagnostics work Ryan! We tried to hook up the VTEC setup "properly", but there was some skuldugery going on with the plug(aka, it was destroyed) and apparently the pin wasn't making good contact.

Yeah, more fuel will definitely be on your winter to-do list Cody :)

Just to state again, the vtec issue was definitely not anything that Cody did wrong. He wired it up as it should be. But my AEM is just old and wacky and I ran into this issue a couple years ago with my BBSC setup. So when we didn't see as high of numbers as we thought up on his dyno it was always a slight suspicion of mine. I'll send the AEM in over winter to be inspected and repaired.

Damn good numbers dude!

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but what mods are done to the engine itself?

What are rebushed factory rods?

Is that literally the only thing done to the engine itself?

So, is this build only good for 600 whp, or how far could you take it?

Depends on the size of your cajones. I would NOT go above 20psi on the stock sleeves with any measure of comfort. Split a sleeve, you start over. For all intensive purposes, our LF600 engine builds will comfortably support anything possible on pump gas, provided the turbo setup is good for it.

Note, the thrill you feel right now will not go away anytime soon.
Congrats and KEEP POSTEN/videos:biggrin:!

Am i correct in thinking you made 488hp with 750cc injectors being the limiting factor?

I only ask because i have ID's 725cc injectors, does this mean i wouldn't make 488hp?

Group Buy on bigger injectors? lol. On a serious note, i'm pretty hard up right now lol.

488 uncorrected. It was 86% humidity and like 90+ degrees in the shop. So the corrected number was 543. Still has been humid the last couple days and I can tell you that the car does feel "slower" though that's pretty damn relative haha. The dyno I used is calibrated at least once a month. They test full on race cars with 4 digit power on them. Also, keep in mind its a Mustang Dyno so it will put out some lower numbers than others.

Maybe Cody can chime in on what power levels he's seen with different injector sizes. But yes, the injectors were limiting us from upping the boost anymore.

Also, just have to post this screen capture since its so full of win :)

Interestingly enough, I don't use correction, and our dyno read 480whp. In any case, 750s will support 550whp comfortably. I think you'll be fine Chris. Also, mufflers will be here early next week so I can finally wrap up your order.

Ryan's running our LF600 Engine Package. CP pistons, rebushed factory rods, headstuds, cometic gaskets. Its been a reliable formula for 500+whp. Curtsr's car is making 627whp at 16psi, its very impressive.

It impresses me daily, 7K miles into it now and it's a beast. When you go to the stand alone AEM EMS you lose the CEL functionality. You still store codes and pull them as normal and I did that last month and there were none. I find myself coming out of it a little earlier than I really need but honestly it makes so much power that if I stay in it after 7200 RPM it just breaks the R1R's loose.

For grins I threw a GP in and shot a couple vids earlier this month:
Note TCS trimming a little bit:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/WQ5L71V_4WU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe>

TCS off I had to lift a lil bit:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/502vD2h9XVM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe>

And merging:

Effortless power, period

I've driven it. All I can say is wow. That car is fun to drive.
