MotoGP season finally kicks off to a great start.

I was surprised the Repsol boys qualified so "low"
The Doctor still has it (for now)

Great results by the non-factory teams as well.

Team Repsol Honda! Team Perdrosa! Team Marquez!

Good race especially the battle between Marquez and Rossi at the end. Too bad Lorenzo, Bradl, Smith and Bautista crashed out. IMO, this first race in Qatar is sorta unusual because the race is at night and the track is sort of slippery.

Yeah, those two were slicing and dicing all the way till the end! I was surprised the Repsol boys did not qualify higher, but still finished strong.

Pedrosa did not qualify well but Marquez was on pole. Lorenzo and Rossi did not qualify well either. I was rooting for Bradl hoping to see him get his first win. I think the old "world order" will be back to normal in the following races for the rest of the season though.

you're right, it was nice seeing other faces qualifying higher.

Anyone catch the RedBull Grand Prix of the Americas?

My son and I were there last weekend. The race was never in question. By the mid-point of the race, Marquez was almost the full length of the grandstand straight ahead of 3rd place and only his teammate (in 2nd place) was even close but never a threat. Fortunately the rain stayed away so overall was a good day. Quite a few guys lost it in turn 1 which is where we were. Got to go on the track after the race and the climb to turn 1 is crazy .. and they're still climbing a bit as they turn the corner. Lots of different lines thru there and must have been difficult to gauge correctly because lots of guys were occasionally running long and wide even after a number of laps.

yes, that climb is sure something, I was there last year for F1. You really can't see how steep the climb is on TV, as it gets flattened on your screen.

And yes, I LOL'd at Lorenzo's start.

If Marquez keeps this up and looks like he will, it's going to be a boring season. He likely will wrap up the championship 2/3 into the season if Yamaha cannot improve. With the engine freeze rule for factory bikes, looks like they won't.

If Lorenzo improves and finishes behind Marquez in the championship, he might end up replacing Pedrosa on the Honda next year.

How I wish Pedrosa would get his first championship. If Marquez were not with Repsol Honda, he would have a shot at it.
