Today marks the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the World's Fair held in Flushing Meadows Park in Queens, NY. Here are some pics my dad took (and if you look closely you will see that I really did have a full head of hair at one point in my life............)

nice pics, i often drive by the fair grounds and wondered what it was like.

Brings back lots of memories. Was brought up in this neighborhood, Corona Queens and still own the house we live in. It's now mom and dad's free rent home! Still remember walking to Lemon Ice, Shea Stadium, Ice skating ring, etc. Thanks for bringing back the memories Bob! I still visit the neighborhood since my parents still lives there.

+1 on bringing back memories. As a member of the Rutgers band, I played a concert there. What a fascinating exhibition! A few years later I was working at Bell Labs with some of the people who developed the Picture Phone exhibited at the fair. Definitely lots of memories!

I went back yesterday for the 50th Anniversary...........

Congrats on the CNN postings.

Definitely brings back memories, I was 10 and attended the World's Fair numerous times. Although I've been up here in Mass since my college days, I'm a born and raised Long Islander. Always liked the Ford and GM pavilions. What happened to the self-driving cars that were supposed to be here in the 80s? :)

Also reminds me of another amusement park I used to like - Freedomland. Didn't last long, now occupied by Co-op City in the Bronx.

Thats how doctors spell it...
