iPhone Mount

Just wanted to post this up in case anybody is interested.

I shoot the breeze with a guy that works across the street from me sometimes, and one of his business ventures is Mountek, a company that makes mounts for phones.

My wife was looking for a mount for her CR-V for a while, but I held off on buying one until I could demo a mount in that particular car.
The guy showed and sold me one of these:

Wife loves it.

So, I asked if he had something that would fit the NSX. We tried the one above, but the tabs were too thick to fit in any of the gaps in the NSX.

He sells another version, the snap style. The tabs on this one are thinner and fit in the NSX, but I didn't want the magnetic holder as I have an iPhone and can't place a piece of metal under the battery cover like other phones, nor did I want to get a case (with a piece of metal on the back). So I asked if perhaps he had something that would fit in the cassette slot. He did not, but promised me he would make a custom one for me, one with the thinner tabs but the "grip" style holder.

Today, he handed me this:

Only had it in for the drive home, but seems secure. Just posting this in case someone is looking for a solution like this as the guy said he might consider making more if there's interest.

Good timing! I haven't seen him in a while, but chatted with him for a few minutes this morning. I told him that two people were interested (and now with Vertexrex, three), and he said he'd talk with the guy who actually makes the mounts. I'll let you guys know when he gets back to me.

Oh, took me a while, but I see what he did. He took this mount:

And glued it to this mount.

Yeah, I'd like something like that too! It would work perfectly for me.

Yes, that is pretty much what he did. The first product they came out with, I believe, is this:

http://www.amazon.com/Mountek-nGroo...ef=sr_1_2?s=gps&ie=UTF8&qid=1410813753&sr=1-2

The second product, is this:

http://www.amazon.com/Mountek-nGroo...ef=sr_1_1?s=gps&ie=UTF8&qid=1410813753&sr=1-1

The second mount, where it inserts into the CD player, is a little thicker than the first mount (where it slips into a gap). But with iPhones, we don't have anywhere to put a metal plate without resorting to a case, so I asked him to make me a "custom" one with a grab type mount.

Updates? Looking to find a solution for the Note 4.

The guy stopped by a while ago with two mounts. I PM'd the first two people in this thread to see if they were still interested, but didn't receive a response, so I PM'd the next two people, who purchased them. Guys, how do you like them after having them for some time?

My latest.
I have a USB charger in the cig lighter socket. Plug a USB cable into that, and the ash tray door no longer closes. but what it does do is create a shelf for your phone to mount horizontally. If you have a rubber case on the phone, it never moves..
Picture of an iphone 6 just sitting there.

by far the least intrusive & easiest to use mount. I've switched all my cars over to these. No more hassling with clamps, spring arms, suction cups etc. The magnet is very strong, I have a big phone (Nexus 6) and it doesn't go anywhere.

you do either have to stick a metal square on your phone, or stick the metal plate between your phone and case (I do the latter).
