Hi

NSXPO is getting closer. Usually I have everything planned as early as february. Although the mail from NSXCA came in late april..so that means I should have had everything planned the day after the announcement. But that's not how it is this year. We just moved in to a new house and things have been super busy getting rid of my apartment. Getting all the stuff moved from the north of Norway to the south. Getting my girfriends apartment sold and finally moving in to the new house..we are far from finished. But we are getting there.

If somebody could help out with some suggestions of things to do in Ohio I would be most greatefull

This is what is planned at the moment:
  • 13 october monday my girlfriend and I will arrive at Cleveland airport. Stay at Holiday Inn near the airport
  • 14 october tuesday get a rental from the airport and drive down to Dublin. Booked the Embassy Suites Columbus - Dublin from tuesday until sunday morning. Will maybe do the zoo and Macy's (maybe I will not be able to tell them apart :)
  • 19 october sunday we will leave Dublin and drive up to Cedar Point. A day of roller coasting (for me at least) there. Will stay at the Holiday Inn not that far from the park
  • 20 october monday is open
  • 21 october tuesday is open
  • 22 october wednesday is open
  • 23 october thursday is open
  • 24 october friday we have a reservation at the Holiday Inn at Cleveland Airport again
  • 25 october saturday heading back home to Norway where hopefully I will get a offer for a steady job

My girlfriend talked about us driving to Chicago from Cedar Point. It is doable. Arrive in Chicago on monday and stay until wednesday morning there. Then drive to Cleveland and stay there until saturday. There is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame there.

Any suggestions on what to do bring em on.

TIA

Best regards

Martin, Definitely do the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. You won't regret it. Since you'll be at Cedar Point, you might enjoy taking the ferry over to Put-In-Bay on South Bass Island and also Kelly's Island. There are some great wineries, bars and restaurants among other attractions on the islands. Here's a link http://www.islandclub.com/attractions.php

Also, a trip to the Amish area's of Ohio is nice as well. http://www.ohioamishcountry.com/ A visit to this area is like a trip back in time as the Amish live a life without electricity so most things are done with steam or kerosene You will love the food at any of the Amish restaurants. I assume you don't know much about "American Football" but the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton is a good couple hours. Also, I think, during your open time in Ohio, Ramseyer Farms in Wooster has their Fall Festival going on. I believe they have a Corn Maze hay rides and other traditional fall activities that you might find fun. http://www.ramseyerfarms.com/ I hope this helps.

We met at last years NSXPO so I look forward to seeing you again at this year's. So what form of rental NSX will you be driving this year?

Martin, one thing that comes to mind is the air & space museum in Dayton, OH. My sister and her husband live in Dayton - I will get some other suggestions from them. Looking forward to seeing you in October.

visit the Honda plant that's gonna make the new NSX, I know about 10 people that are gonna drive with their NSX to see it caravan to the plant

Dublin is a suburb of Columbus, which is a pretty big city itself. There is a ton of shopping around, if you or your girlfriend is into that. Look up Easton Town Center, which is a big outdoor shopping area. Downtown Columbus, especially the Short North and German Village areas have lots of boutiques, bars, and restaurants. I'm local to Dublin and Columbus - feel free to PM me if you have questions about specific activities.

For those who are Shawshank Redemption fans, you could tour the prison where the movie was shot:

The Ohio State Reformatory
100 Reformatory Rd
Mansfield, OH

http://www.mrps.org/

This is located in the same town as La Quinta which looks to be the host hotel for NSXPO.

I'm not sure how the tours work. When I was there in 2013, this was the site for the banquet for ITREXPO so the tour and banquet was all arranged for us.

Malabar farms is where the tree from Shawshank Redemption tree is..... Pretty cool place...... amazing fudge.

As an Ohio native.... I feel that most of the grounds have been covered. Put in Bay is a damn good time. There is now a few casinos in Ohio. The one in Columbus is a pretty good time and of course the MIGHTY OHIO STATE BUCKEYES will be destroying Rutgers on the 18th in Columbus. Even if you can't make it to the actual game.... Columbus (Cbus) gets pretty "set off" on a game day..... good times to be had by all......

If you have any interest in the history of aviation, it all started in Dayton. There is an "Aviation Trail" of the Wright Brother's original shop(s), Flying Fields (they didn't Google to find out how to fly an airplane), their house and a bunch of other stuff.

Also, the Air Force Museum previously mentioned is first rate.

A vote for the Rock & Roll HOF.

Hi

Thanks for all the suggestions. Have not had the time to look in to this as I've been finally forced out of unemployment after 2 years.

It lools like we will go to Cedar Point after NSXPO and then drive down to Columbus area again. Do suggested stuff there and then back to Cleveland for the Rock & Roll HOF and then back to Norway. Were I will hopefully have a permanent job offer to consider.

Best regards

Hi

Now I have finished the planning of what to do. There are some changes

This is what we will be doing:
  • 13 october monday my girlfriend and I will arrive at Cleveland airport. Stay at Holiday Inn Cleveland Airport
  • 14 october tuesday get a juiced up rental..not really. It may get sticker tuned to add speed and roadability though who knows. Drive down to Dublin. Stay at the Embassy from tuesday. Do http://www.eastontowncenter.com/
  • 15 october wednesday do https://columbuszoo.org/ and then it's NSXPO
  • 19 october sunday we will leave Dublin and drive down to https://www.visitkingsisland.com/ (which is not even an island) instead of Cedar Point. Will stay at Holiday inn Cincinnati - Mason. Will do the http://www.deerfieldtownecenter.com/ in the afternoon/evening (as long as I get a steak for dinner I am happy)
  • 20 october monday drive up to Dayton. Will stay at Holiday Inn Huber Hights. We will do the National museum of the US Air Force. Then http://www.texasroadhouse.com/ for dinner
  • 21 october tuesday we will drive up to http://www.berlinhotelandsuites.com/ in amish country
  • 22 october wednesday stay in Marysville amish and get all crazy doing a reverse rumspring there
  • 23 october thursday we will drive up to Cleveland were we will stay at Holiday Inn Downtown. Will Do Hard Rock + more
  • 24 october friday we will do Rock & Roll Hall of Fame + more and then head out to the Holiday Inn at the airport again
  • 25 october saturday heading back home to Norway where hopefully I will get a offer for a steady job(still in the open about the job)

That is what I have planned. Will be a hell of a lot cheaper than last years vacation, but more relaxing than last year. Last year we drove from Orlando to NC to the track. Back to Orlando. Then to Miami. Then to Key West and then back to Orlando again.

Best regards
