Question NSX Wife has a ? re: car cover

    hello all

as a wife (and very occasional driver) of an NSX, i was wondering if i could get some advice regarding car covers. since i am the chief laundry officer at our house, i find the technalon cover we now have a pain in the _ _ _ _ since i have to take it to a commercial washer.

i'm looking to get the hubby a really good indoor cover as they are more easily washable. this car is always always garaged.

i have done my research but wondered if you all had any recommendations on fabric, manufacturers, etc?

thanks! this way my hubby will be convinced of my never-ending support and care of his silver baby.

The Techalon is nice because it provides some cushioning for minor bumps...kid's bikes and such. A plain cotton cover is fine for the garage if there is no traffic. I have one that is 25 years old on my Lotus and it is still in decent shape. Easy to wash...like a heavy bedsheet.

the wife: What a nice gesture! I'm going to show this post to my better half....

JPS Europa: I sat in a Europa for the first time this past weekend. What a cozy cockpit. Do you race the car? Hmmm, I'm getting off topic here. If you feel so inclined I'd like to hear your impressions of it. Maybe start a new thread sometime. Maybe call it "Precursor to the NSX" .

Yes, an all-cotton cover might best fit your specific needs, since it is a lighter weight than the layered fabrics and easily fits in the washer, and you might not need the protection of a thicker layered fabric that keeps out rain etc.

There are several vendors of aftermarket covers, with useful information (including about the specific fabrics) on their websites in addition to prices etc.:

    CGI Motorsports
    California Car Cover
    Big Sky Car Cover

There's also info in the FAQ here

I must agree with this as i would have given the same advice ... and its not that often that i have to wash the cover so i would rather have the extra protection of the heavier fabric.
