Here are two videos from this past Sunday at Buttonwillow 13CW with Speed Ventures that I wanted to share.

Both are shot with a GoPro 4 Black in 4k resolution!

The equipment that I used in the first one is a skeleton case with suction mount onto the rear window, GoPro mic adapter, and Audio-Technica ATR-3350 microphone mounted on the rear bumper to capture the exhaust note and reduce wind noise. I also used the the foam windscreen that comes with it to help further reduce wind noise. I zipped tied the foam in place so it doesn't fly off. I am waiting for a stereo to mono jack adapter so the microphone records in box left and right audio channels.

The second video was filmed with a sealed case and no external microphone. I drilled two small holes into the center of a SoS fixed front license plate bracket and bolted a K-EDGE 580 Combo Mount Interface onto it. http://www.acecosportgroup.com/k-edge-computer-mounts/k-edge-combo-mounts-1/k-edge-combo-mount-interface.html

Enjoy!

Great camera work and the audio on the first one was perfect, great job.

Dave

Thanks.

In the future, I am going to try to do a Picture in Picture with the ground view as the main and in cabin as the small image in the upper right hand corner. Pipe in audio from the exhaust.

Nice video, love the sound.

Curious, how did you run the mic cable from your gopro to the rear bumper?

The Audio Technica ATR-3350 mic has about a 20' built in cable. I ran the cable from the trunk, into the engine bay, through the firewall, and hid it in the center console box. I leave the mic when not in use inside the trunk foam tool tray. It is basically how one would run a back up camera or a trunk mounted amplifier. I just tape it to my rear bumper when I want to use it. I did it when I installed the a back up camera.

I only used the external mic when the GoPro was inside my cabin suction mounted to the rear window. I did not use it when I have the GoPro mounted to the front of my car.

Yeah the Audio-Technica ATR-3350 mic is awesome I got the exact same setup as well. It's perfect for these types of recordings. Your video came out great.

Try a high mount on the roof or windshield just above the rear view mirror as your front view. It is helpful to see the front of the car in the video to see if you are really hitting your marks and if the front end of the car is giving up. The License plate view can be a little distracting with so much pavement showing. The video below shows what i mean specifically going through the esses at turns 3-7 at COTA this view will help you learn faster than not being able to see the front of the car.

I love my GT1 5.1! Just hate how it sounds when it's cold. Now that the cans are blown out, I've been waiting for RYU to put his up for sale!

Added to reading list. Will, I'm getting my EG on track soon. Definitely need some pointers as it'll be my first time piloting a FF on track.
