How are folks getting instant updates from the For Sale threads

I only see daily emails and am getting tired of seeing new ads each morning that I am interested in with "sold" or "sale pending" in them.

Am I missing something or are owners just hitting page refresh every 15 minutes? Does Tapatalk offer instant updates or something?

I am thinking of writing code to go out and hit the page every 15 minutes and grab the updates.

Thx!

All I know is that the nsx marketplace is getting more and more cutthroat as the used nsx market is heating up. People are HUNGRY for parts out there. Better buy it when you see. No time to dabble.

To the last poster's point, there are sites that gather this type of info. I have never tried it on Prime, but I know it works on other forums with sales posts. To your original question about being immediate, I have not seen that. On the system I mentioned, you have to refresh the page but the main difference is that it will capture info from numerous sources and pull into one spot. So, Prime, 6 Speed, ebay, etc.

I am trying the RSS feed in both Chrome and Android apps and finding it a long way from realtime, hours off at best. Is there a way to debug this? If I just had the one client, maybe it's me but both on two different devices? It's 10:21am now and last post received on my android is from 7:34pm last night....how do I know if it is the feed or the client? BTW I have tried to Android apps with similar results.

The most frequent updates you can get when subscribing to an entire forum is a daily e-mail.

My guess is that people getting frequent through-the-day updates are using push notifications from something like Tapatalk or are using something that supports RSS and pulling from http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=24

RSS is not intended to be a real-time "push" style notification... The feeds get refreshed on a schedule on the server side and the client also has a polling frequency. If you want true push notifications you'll need to use something like Tapatalk.

I just checked the settings and this site should be refreshing the RSS feeds once an hour, so if you are seeing refreshes take hours it may well be something in your client settings as you mentioned.

You can verify this by looking at the raw XML from the link above. Towards the top of the document is the following section with the build date/time. Here is a screenshot of the way it appears right now. You can see it was refreshed about 30 min ago, and has a time-to-live (ttl) of 60 minutes.

How do I get the raw XML though? Thanks!

OK, I turned off the chrome extension and now I see it (it flashed up then was replaced by the extension viewer.

The problem is not the refresh rate on the server. I just refreshed, and see:

I am on EDT so with a 4 hour time diff with GMT this is correct I think.

The issue is that the most recent post in the feed is this:

Sorry, should've figured that would get scrambled.....(

OK, I turned off the chrome extension and now I see it (it flashed up then was replaced by the extension viewer.

The problem is not the refresh rate on the server. I just refreshed, and see:

Tue, 17 Mar 2015 14:20:46 GMT

I am on EDT so with a 4 hour time diff with GMT this is correct I think.

The issue is that the most recent post in the feed is this:

It looks like you can throw &lastpost=1 on the end of the query URL to have threads returned in descending order based on the date of the last post of the thread.

So:
Code:
http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=24&lastpost=1

Does that help?

On the XML yes. Still fiddling with android. I changed the URL but didn't take effect yet, might need to restart the app I guess.

Note that without lastpost=1, I can't find "1999" in the XML doc at all which is in the title of the most recent post.

I think I am good to go now with the new URL param - I added the RSS feed via Firefox to my Outlook and that seems to be updating on time. On my Android, once I cleared all existing messages, restarted the phone it seems OK now. BTW I am using RSS Reader for Android.

Thanks for the help!
