    Conrad,
You have either taken your first step into a larger world, or have started down the path to the Dark Side. Either way, Ben Kenobi or Darth Vader would be proud.

I can't wait to hear it.

I too found myself downshifting for no reason just to hear it rev. I just came back from another quick blast up and down the street where I work. (Gave another coworker a ride.)

The first one kept sending me emails about how he couldn't stop thinking about it. (whoa!)

Big friggin' smiles all over the place!

Randy, nzo-who has forced me to stop by his house around 5:30pm. gomaidy may be there too to hear it.

I'll probably make a quick appearance at NSXSAN's meeting point at the In and Out next to 163 this Saturday. I'll only be able to stay for like 10-15 minutes before I have to go to my "daighters" dance dress rehearsal.

This is my second step. =) First step was the SoS RAPID Shift knob...

My NSX is no longer virgin. TEIN's are next...

I heard that the FlowMaster exhausts are known to cause overheating in the trunk/engine area due to lack of heat shields. Is this true?!

Joel, are you referring to the concern I had posted in this thread?

    http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showt...threadid=18740

I haven't heard of any custom Flowmaster systems causing these problems... but it could happen.

The only exhaust systems I've heard of that has heat issues are the B&B Triflow/RM Exhaust systems...

I'll be keeping a close eye on it. It's a concern to me.

Well, I have had the Flowmaster on for a few months now. Here are my observations.
When it was installed, I noticed the Flowmaster canister to be alot smaller then the OEM stock exhaust. This allows you to mount it a good distance from the bottom of the truck(depending on how you angle it in there). I carry things in my trunk all the time, CD's, cloths, guns(j/k), etc. etc. I have never noticed the trunk heating up more then it usually did before I put an aftermarket exhaust on.
Also, the Flowmaster exhaust has become slightly louder since the install. Not much, just a bit. It echos in parking garages and sounds deep!
While going under highway under passes, I floor it and love the scream!!!

I also went flowmaster after reading about it on some similar posts.

I LOVED IT!! I used the corvette 2 in 2 out set up. I could probably get specifics from my muffler guy. Total cost was about $250 with some nice twin turn up tips. Muffler itself was just $120

    It sounds amazing!!

Only one complaint: after installing it, i felt a hesitation when the car was run at WOT. I don't know if it was the flowmaster or not, but it happened RIGHT after and only after the installation. It has now stopped though.

Also, what does it sounds like cruising at 75-85 MPH on the hiway.. is it boomy? is it quiet? Is it about the same as stock?

I got the Flowmaster for about $90 shipped to me from some place in Florida. First Century? Something like that, sounded like a real estate company.
My total was less then $200 and I still have my OEM exhaust in the garage.

I have it too. Muscle car sound qualities is a somewhat good description of the exhaust sound. I too also noticed my idle went down after the install. But only in cold starts otherwise its rumbling fine.

My exhaust setup is slightly different from Tans. I spoke to Duc at Team Spugen who did Tan's system and his setup has 2.5" in piping in and out.

I went a little more extreme (to get more sound) and went 2.5" in and 3.0" out. (It gives it a trumpet like effect per my exhaust guy--this guy is amazing, he gave me charts with diagrams, formulas, etc... and he named off the part number and the muffler's application from a crappy B&W printed photo of Tan's system.)

Don't believe the clips. The sound clips sound like crap. (As with all exhaust systems.) Hear it in person. There is a video clip of the 3rd NSX Prime Canyon Drive of Tan's Flowmaster sounding close to life. (Best sound clip I've heard of an exhaust system yet!) You can find it in the Southwest Region Forums. (I'll post a link later.)

My system has a deep, throaty growl from idle to about 3800rpm. That's when it switches to a higher pitched sound. It sounds BEAUTIFUL. I can best describe it as a stock NSX Exhaust but louder and better! Very, VERY Ferrari-like at full song.

As for the question in regards to how it sounds inside from 75-85mph... I really don't know yet. I kept revving it too much.

I did cruise for a little bit on my way back to work and it was quiet as stock. There was also an uphill section on the freeway and when I gave it some gas it was a little boomy/throaty. So I'm going to say... under load, and under 3500rpm... it may be boomy... (I think that's where my car revs at around 85mph in 6th gear.)

But again, I have a 3" outlet piping that increases the sound. 2.5" will be quite a bit tamer per my exhaust guy.

I'll mount my video cam and try to make a short video clip today. But then again, it may not sound true-to-life...

Here's the video of Tan's Monaco Blue Flowmaster passing by.

This video was created by Akira3D.

    http://home.attbi.com/~valiwasaki/ns...e3-endless.wmv

Tan's car is the Monaco Blue with the foglights. You can see and start hearing his car at approx 1:08.

This is the first video and sound clip I've seen/heard that sound almost like the real thing.........

Conrad (Powered by Honda) stopped by my house this evening, the exhaust sounds real nice. It has a nice burble at idle, and towards the higher RPMS it changes pitch. It woke my friend up while he was sleeping inside the house.

OK, a few more impressions of my car after taking the LONG way home... with the top off. (This is my first car with an aftermarket exhaust.)

--IT'S DAMN COOL! Now I know how everyone feels when they look for tunnels. WOW!!! I'm going to have to make a video clip.

--I took nzo-who for a ride and I believe he said that the exhaust was about the same as his Comptech in terms of volume. I actually think it's pretty loud. (I haven't been in a Comptech NSX.) I think it's pretty comparable to the RM Exhaust. Idle to about 3000 I think some might mistake it for an RM. But I haven't been in an NSX w/an RM Exhaust for several months (FuryNSX's).

Maybe here's a better description (from inside the car:
    RM: Idle to 3000rpm.
    Ferrari: from 3001rpm to redline!

--My gas mileage is certainly NOT going to improve since I rev it like crazy now.

--While driving on the freeway, it was rush-hour traffic so I couldn't go that fast. Plus my top was off... but I think this sucker may be a little too loud for some people. It seems to drone at low rpm (guessing less than 2500).

--The car definitely feels like it revs more freely. Redline comes up way faster than it did before... but this could be in my head.

--Coming home, I asked Keri if she heard me pull up. She didn't. I guess it doesn't wake up my neighbors. Not sure... maybe she's just deaf.

--nzo-who said he heard me pull up... hmm...

--I had Keri drive the NSX while I drove my daily driver home from the exhaust shop. She shot passed me on the freeway on-ramp. DAMN! It definitely sounds like a Ferrari. Keri loved it! She's not an exhaust person either...

--The only thing I would probably change if I could do it again... I may opt for 2.5" in and out piping. 3" may be a little bit too loud for me... but maybe not. It just sounds so damn cool!

gomaidy, I should have let you drive it... let you compare it with your Taitec.

I bet the exhaust will sound even better once it's been broken in... give it a week or so. It will sound a little cleaner.

oh yeah, and I'm not trying to stray away from this thread, but I found out that my cats were hollowed out and that was why I've been letting flames out.

I also put a set of RM headers on last week.

I guess you can say that I'm about as "CARB Illegal" as one can get...good thing I still technically live in Oregon!

can't wait to hear your set-up Conrad.
