Well, I'm finally doing it. Getting my 95 NSX T painted.

I've had it for 2 years or so now and the exterior was kinda rough so I decided to Plasti Dip it to same some money. It worked and looked good. I'm still a fan of plasti dip but I'm ready for a change.

The car was originally red then painted yellow....all before me. I really like the yellow so I'm staying with that.
I received several bids to get the car painted. I finally decided on a shop that was local.
It's rather expensive but from what I understand from others that have used this shop, it will be a show car when done.
It will take about a month or so to do. They will remove all of the panels, doors and fenders and then strip it down to the aluminum. That way, they can give me the lifetime warranty on the paint.

I also decided that I might as well fix a few other things.

Here is the list:
 • New gaskets for the Targa Top - wow were those expensive.
 • New door hinge. Mine were worn out.
 • New wheels - same rubber just new wheels
 • New front fender liners

The shop said that they would send me pics as they go so here are the first round. I've also included a pic of it last summer with the plasti dip on it.
If any of you think that there are other things that I should consider replacing while it's in pieces (remember cost is a factor), please let me know.

Awesome! Hope it turns out great. It looks like you are fairly close to where i live, can you message me how much they are charging? I'm planning to get a repaint soon.

Thanks

Ricke, I encourage this as a Nsx should never be plasti-dipped. That is like taking a Ferrari to Macco. I am so glad your doing this and applaud you for taking it on. Big thumbs up! Please update the thread as I am now SUBSCRIBED!

Lookin like mucho progress. What was the bid they gave you for a full paint? Will they be removing the engine and spraying it yellow as well?

A few new Pic's

My front fenders were in bad shape so I purchased the carbon fiber replacements. They needed to cut out the side marker holes.

I'm loving that work brotha. Looks like you put a lot of heart into that project.

Ricke,

Lovely restoration, no wonder you're pleased, nice detail with the calipers, any thoughts to do the over stitching to the dash and door cards to further tie in the colour co-ordination? It's time consuming but IMO really looks good and gives the interior a subtle update

Enjoy and look after your 'new' NSX

Regards, Paul

Thanks Senninha. I actually did the stitching mod when the car was yellow. Now that the car is dark orange, I took a orange marker and went over the yellow and turned the stitching almost to the color of the car. Wasn't sure this would work but it did. It's starting to fade a bit so I'll go over it again this summer. Thought I'd try it and it worked. Much easier than pulling it out and re-doing it.
