Help with suggestion on car engine running roughly

I was out with my spouse on Saturday and had to detour to the dealer to drop the car off for repairs.

The car was running fine last week then started to run erratically. It would accelerate roughly and once in a while there would be smell of gas.

What could the problem be?

It was mid afternoon when I arrived at the dealer. I will call the dealer tomorrow to find out what they say is the problem.

This is the first time I have experienced this.
