Where are all the Production deliveries ??

I totally agree it will get sorted out, it is just plain goofy, what has been going on the last month

No question it's an embarrassment for Honda after all the noise about car #1 and so on.
Just don't think they can say anything at this point that will add value.
Suspect there'll be a cone of silence until dealers start receiving their initial cars.

the so called production ramp up is non existent to date

Lexus only did about 20 that LFAs that we know of prior to production and once they said what their build rate was, they delivered.

appears to be a stealership car ($50k Mark up like one of the dealers I spoke wih)

the poster has 2 cars on EBay, the other being a 911RS

the phone number is for Skyline Ford

the owners of the dealership also own Acura of Salem (Oregon)

acura has been giving dealerships production windows that they are not supposed to share with customers but I guess it is ok to tell the folks looking on EBay the car is expected in October
 
First off let me say anyone who drives that track has my respect! Ballsy or what!

Secondly those gear changes were really sharp, good to see.

Congratulations to Nick Robinson on winning the Time Attack 2, Division. It seems James Robinson ran into difficulties in the TA1 car.
 
Exhaust note note not up to supercar standard no hairs on end even at full noise.
 
The other, nonproduction car (TA1) kind of got rocked. 13th place in class (the lowest to finish)? Perhaps something went wrong.

Are you sure about the record? Wikipedia lists the 2015 run in a Porsche Turbo S as 10:26.896, whereas the NSX ran 10:28.820.

From what I have seen I believe JW is correct

David Donner, the record holder in TA2 was in TA1 is year and got close to 10 minutes flat ,but, I cannot find any details about what he drove this year.

In any case, the NSX team had a great showing

The only dumb sheet thing was when the 2 Ohio guys were interviewed, one mentioned the car running on the optional tires. I guess no one told him there are no optional tires

This is beyond embarrassing for them, because every single part of this car's deployment has been a total joke, and exercise in how NOT to bring a car to market. From timelines being missed by huge margins, promises unfulfilled, and excuse after excuse for why delays happen. Bottom line, this is not how you bring a new 'super car' to market. As it sits now, a good chunk of owners are going to be getting their cars just in time to drive them for a few weeks, and then store them for the winter. The should realize that at some point you just stop faffing around and bring the damn car to market already! :mad:

It's embarrassing for sure, but it reflects Honda's values and attitude. They'd rather have egg on their face for delays than egg on their face for customers getting cars that have issues.

So for example, look at some of the issues people had with early 12C's (ECU issues, multimedia system, headlights,etc.). Or the engine fires with the 991 GT3's. Other manufacturers in the same position might take the risk of some customers having issues in order to get the cars to market. Honda seems to not be willing to take that risk.

To be honest, with as complex as this car is I'm surprised they're on the cusp of production now. This is a car where they changed the engine and layout after development was well under way and it still got done in 4 or 5 years. Still a black eye for making promises that they're not going to be able to keep and it will serve to lessen the halo effect. Hopefully they'll get these cars on the road in time for some of the major tests like the Lightning Lap.
 
NSX concepts began in 1986. Final near production trim debuts in 1989. 1991 marked the actual production cars hitting the road. So, 5 years.

2012 NSX 2.0 concept debuted. 2015 near production NSX debuts. End of 2016 is likely when production cars hits the road. They beat the first NSX by a year virtually and it has much greater competition these days along with much more complex and higher horsepower demands...

Sounds like typical Honda to me, if not slightly better. Embarrassing? No. Impatience? Yes. Don't let their stumblings in F1 carry over to the production side as they are two seperate divisions completely.
 
I haven't followed the development of a completely new car from other manufacturers but it seems to me the new Ford GT concept was two years in the making and another two years to production.
So perhaps 4-5 years is the norm for completely new cars.

Updating an existing car is a much easier and quicker job so once the new NSX production and sales have stabilized special NSX editions should be pretty straightforward .
 
The R35 Nissan GT-R was shown as a concept in 2001, prototype in 2005 and released in 2008. Example of an all-new effort akin to the NSX 2.0.

did they not originally (back in 2012 or earlier) tout the new NSX as a 2014 model?
 
i can't remember exactly either, as there have been quite a few delays and push backs. but i think it was originally announced as a late 2014 model?
 
Today's info is that cars have left the factory and that the quality issues that delayed building cars have been addressed (the paint problems and head supply issues have been discredited).

Waiting to hear about when we can schedule tours.
