91 up for Smog, ways to improve passing

So every 2 years when my smog renew is due I get very nervous, so here are the things I do before smog hung, let's here what you do

1. Change out air filter
2. Gets cats. Really hot
3. Add some Lucas fuel filter
4. Pray to the smog God
5. AIT a must follow link below
6. Smaller rear wheel( fat five)

clean the IAT.

Smaller the wheels the better.... Stay away from heavy wheels.

Get some stock 91 fat fives......got a couple sets for sale:biggrin:

Definitely clean the IAT if you haven't for a while. Also the EGR tube (both tend to get gummed up).

Last time I got a smog, I lucked out with a guy who used to drive an NSX, so not only did he know where the engine was ("where's the dang engine!"), he knew to keep the cats hot, run the tests in lower gears, and during the mandated shut off and restart, roared the engine to at least 6K. My car passed, and he told me that the EGR airflow was barely adequate. Hope he's still there next time...

Anyone one know where or how to clean this EGR

Was able to pull the sensor and boy was I glad, after 25 years of build up, here is before and after, it's so easy to do, took me 15 min.
