Greetings Prime,
Thought I would share a few photos and a few tales from the road.
Definition of the title:
Tinker:
Tinkering is therefore the process of adapting, meddling or adjusting something in the course of making repairs or improvements.
Travel:
make a journey, typically of some length or abroad.
I feel this is how my time is spent with all cars, this thread is about my time spent the NSX.
I purchased my most recent NSX a few months ago with the plan to tinker and drive where ever the road leads.
This chassis has been involved in some accidents and the interior had been converted from (Ivory) to (Spray painted Black). The name of the car gifted from the previous owner was the Peacock.
First photos with the car:
Got a partial refund on the purchase
Looking for more refunds
The interior was originally Ivory. The carpet and lower dash were spray painted black. A few random Ivory parts were converted but not many.
Swapped headliners and wheel.
There was a terrible whirring noise in the drivers rear side that I was unsure if axle or wheelbearing.
Ended up being wheel bearing. Swapped hubs and rebuilt both axles.
Brief list of the parts I can remember I have tinkered with:
Added black interior bits to help complete the conversion.
Front OEM lip
Swapped Blower motors/cleaned leaves out
New battery
SCW radiator cooling panel
Koyo radiator
SOS silcone hoses
OEM coolant hoses
New windshield / upper fastener and molding
New front cowl
SOS type S shift knob
JDM Navi Pod w/ Garmin 2798LMT and backup camera
Swapped floor mats with an extra set
(L) & (R) window regulators were removed and extra set were installed with new guides
CCU repair
Clutch switch to fix Cruise Control
Engine and trunk struts
Removed K&N intake replaced with OEM
Swapped drivers rear hub
Rebuilt axles
Comptech Muffler
Koni Yellows/OEM springs
Hawk HP + Pads/Rotors/SS Lines/Fluid flush
Cedar Ridge front and rear swaybar links
Tailight gaskets
Swapped engine glass with extra tinted one
Black powdercoated 94+ wheels with RS3 tires
Traveled to an island in SC
Traveled down old logging roads in WNC
Taking advantage of living close to the parkway
After a few months and a few thousand miles of shakedown it was time to do a bit of extended travel.
The main idea I had when I purchased this car is to travel around the USA and drive some fun roads and see some fun things. A few things I enjoy are cars, camping and golf. I combined all three and set out to see what would happen.
As many know the NSX trunk is quite large when packed properly. After a few test fits of what I would need to bring, this is what was packed in the trunk.
I plan to car/ backpack camp as much as possible to allow me to explore as much as possible.
* not pictured are 2 jackstands and a few other last minute additions.
Leaving Western NC around mid September provided the introduction to the color change of fall. I drove up to Pennsylvania to spend time with family for a few days
Virginia is for
Country Cornfields
Stopped by Watkins Glen for NASA/East Coast Honda Challenge Nationals
Met Oldduffer at his course in NY and played a round
Met Cody on the way to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan
Crossing into the UP
Leaves are changing here as well
I learned that the meaning of puddle down south and up north mean different things. I was trying to take a 15 mile gravel road shortcut and ended up driving on the sand, dirt, and gravel ORV roads for around 2 hours. Began to wonder if I would drive on tarmac again.
Almost the start of the rally
After. High sand knocked off the front lip. Reattached after the photo.
