I bought a new pc and oculus rift on Thursday. I'm am totally BLOWN AWAY. if you haven't tried it I suggest doing so if your into gaming. Like the self driving car thread... VR is the future. I can easily see many practical applications for VR technology. Shopping at home and having the items delivered to you by drone. Visiting somewhere or someone without ever leaving home. Playing cards with someone across the country or other side of the world.

The racing game is extremely realistic with 360 degree views. The zombie game is a blast to play. The mountain climbing game is very challenging. It was worth every penny I spent on it and I will continue to upgrade as new technology comes along. Can't wait to capture video with it for the kids to watch a day in their lives as children when they are 40 years old. Again like the self driving car it's just a matter of time before the technology is common place.

Easy to attend sporting events right at home. Five bucks and you're at a Grand Prix racing event? Probably just a few years from now that'll be reality, virtually anyways.

I haven't tried Oculus but I have a PSVR. VR is pretty amazing. I have a race seat with wheel setup. Using it with VR with 360 view is pretty amazing and fun. I read the other that someone has develop a mask to wear with VR that would allow to also smell. They said no application for racing games yet but that would be pretty cool to be able to smell oil and burning rubber will playing VR racing.

Where did you get the race seat? Is it only for the PS4? Can I see a pic? I Love the smell of race fuel in the morning!

I have a PS4 and I'm thinking of buying the psvr to try that out as well.

Here is a few pics. The wheel is Thrustmaster T300rs(the one in the picture is my old logitech). I beleive the wheel works with other systems. The seat I bought at a local speed shop. It was being discontinued and got for practically nothing. Then I built the frame myself. It's basically based of the playseat. https://www.playseatamerica.com/product-page/1a2d7e83-4bef-31d5-09e1-3326ee271c09.

Driveclub VR is a lot of fun. Can't wait to try Grand Turismo when it comes out.

Wow that is awesome. You can use that in VR? If so how are the controls connected, steering whelp, shifter, pedals. That is a sweet set up! If not is there one available for VR?

Yes this setup works with VR or none VR games. The wheel/pedals connect to the PS4 via USB. As I mentioned above this is my old wheel. My new one doesn't have the shifter but does have the paddle shifter. This is the wheel I have http://www.thrustmaster.com/products/t300rs. There is also one available with a clutch but I had it on my logitech and never used it and found the third pedal was in the way.

What racing games do you currently play?

is there VR porn yet?,,,,,,imagine a online virtual orgy room.....and you don't have to worry about a virus.......

occulus vomitus......

Over the past couple of years, VR has become a focus of our team at Big Red Button. In studio we have HTC VIVE, Oculus Rift, PSVR, Daydream VR, Google Cardboard...and I personally own PSVR and Gear VR.

The room scale VR of VIVE is by far the most impressive of all of these.

I'm personally quite impressed with what I've seen on PSVR (I have DriveClub VR, but my favorite experience thus far has been the Star Wars: Battlefront VR Mission). Haven't spent enough time on Oculus, but I did try to get Project CARS working with it once and gave up (my driving position was wrong...my head was poking through the top of the car...and I didn't have steering controller hooked up)...and I haven't tried the Touch controller yet.

I am still holding out hope that GT: Sport will bring support of older Logitech wheels to PS4 because I really don't want to invest in another wheel. DriveClub VR is cool, but controlling via DS4 is just not the same.

The mobile VR experiences are a mixed bag...at times they seem more impressive than they should given that they're powered by a mobile device, but phones have a tendency to heat up pretty quickly (which can add to any sense of nausea you might already experience from playing around in VR).

lets hope we don't end up looking like all the humans in Wall-e:eek:

I might be totally wrong about this, but from what I have read the reason Logitech wheels don't work with PS4 has nothing to do with the games. They say the issue is with the PS4 itself. If that's true new games will not change that. There are some youtube video showing a workaround to make them work with the PS4. Not sure if it really works. If it doesn't and you have a PSVR and like racing games it's worth buying a new one in my opinion(especialy with GT Sport and Project car 2 coming this year) but don 't want to tell you how to spend your money

There is a hardware reason why old wheels don't automatically work with PS4, but Sony has said that developers can opt to include necessary drivers IF they want to add game-specific support for older USB controllers (like wheels).

Polyphony Digital has claimed that they would probably support older Logitech wheels...which makes sense given that some of their wheels were developed alongside of Gran Turismo.

If someone figures this out properly and also a way to contain the most market share they will become richer than Gates or Jobs. I also think there could be a more balanced male female user ratio as well.

On another related note but not oculus game.. I just finished playing a VERY unique game called Her Story. Totally unlike anything I've ever played before. Very engaging. Makes you use your head. And it's only five bucks. I'd love to see more games like this one. be very careful of researching it because I could see the game getting spoiled easily with just light reading about the game. Be sure to read the directions before you start or it'll double your time to complete the game. I can't imagine anyone not liking this game.

With phones exploding randomly not sure how good I feel about strapping one to my face.

Actually, even when they don't explode, the phones get pretty hot when running graphics intense applications (especially true of VR). After about an hour into a session of Gear VR, I developed a pretty huge headache and felt feverish. I didn't realize why until I took the unit off my head...and the headache lasted well into the next morning. I haven't used Gear VR much since for fear of repeating that experience.

Phones overheat fast on vr. The oculus doesn't overheat.

Do you play rec room? I'm keeping my eye open for you in there.

wow the possibilities are endless....I hope to see you guys in the sauna...........:single_eye:

I tried the Oculus Rift on my friends system yesterday using iRacing. Words cannot describe the simulation. I drove on the Ring, LeMans, and the Daytona oval, it's insane how realistic it is. If I had more free time I'd buy a gaming PC for VR.
