Moving from Indy to Greenville, SC: Looking for mechanic

I am in the process of moving my family from Indianapolis, IN to Greenville, SC. I have a few fun cars, among them an '03 S2000, a '95 NSX, and an '04 TL. So I will be looking for a good Honda/Acura shop.

Source1 is a great NSX specialist in Cincinnati, OH that services my NSX when needed. In the past, I've had good luck with Acura dealers that had an NSX Master Tech. I'll be looking to get some work done on my S2000 in the next month here in Greenville. And the TL has 175k miles on it, so it will need periodic servicing.

What are the good Acura/Honda specialists in the Greenville/Greer area? Today I drove by a shop called "First Class HALT". I spent some time researching them on line and they get good reviews. Anyone have experience with them?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

My next step is to find a house for sale where I can park the cars...

I live in Asheville NC. I do all my own work. I would probably suggest Eiffels Place outside of Atlanta. Only about 2 hr drive.

Ill send you a PM and I can guide you further.

I have an 05 in Greenville. Of course, maintenance requirements are low. I did have an O2 sensor replaced at the local Acura dealer, Bradshaw. Their price for the part was off base, I bought it online from another dealer and they installed it. The service experience was good. They supposedly have an ex NSX mastertech on staff. But how do you know?
I have contemplated getting the timing belt changed. I called "First Class" that you mentioned and I was told that there was never such a thing as NSX Certified Techs at dealerships. So, I wrote them off for the NSX but I have had other dealings with them on another Japanese car with no complaints.
There are several ex NSX tech's running shops in the Atlanta area which is about 2.5 hours away.

Eiffel's place in Atlanta (Marietta) is probably the closest true "NSX expert". Might be worth the drive for bigger jobs.

In Greenville you have the following:

-Bradshaw Acura. I also heard that they have an NSX mastertech on the payroll, but I don't have any experience with them. Probably expensive like most dealer service departments.
-HALT (Honda/Acura/Lexus/Toyota). Like you said they seem to have good reviews, but I doubt they have any NSX specific experience.
-Acutech. This is a Honda/Acura specialty shop right around the corner from HALT on Garlington Rd. The owner, Jimmy, used to own an NSX and has worked on multiple local NSXs. I had my timing belt service done there (he does the work himself) and was happy with the experience. Although my cam plugs have started to leak... so I may be going back to have that fixed.
-For suspension and alignment work I would recommend Pompeii Motorsports on Garlington Rd. They are not an NSX specific shop, but they seem to do a lot of performance suspension and alignment jobs and they always seem happy to deal with aftermarket setups. I haven't taken my NSX there yet, but I'll be bringing it to them for an alignment some time in the near future.

Welcome to Greenville.

I also recommend Pompeii Motorsports for suspension and alignment work. I had my Hellcat lowered there and an alignment was done. Francisco had me come back a few weeks later to check the alignment to see if it was still spot on in case the car had settled. He really knows his stuff!

I had some work done by HALT (RTA bushings) and he took his time and did it right. I also got an alignment at Accutech, they seemed to know what they were doing and the price was very fair.

I used to work with Francisco (at Pompeii) at Michelin. I can't speak to his work myself, but I had coworkers bring their car there for performance related mods with good success. He did an alignment on a friend's car with more camber (non-factory spec), and I can attest that he's the only one that will do it in Greenville. I wanted more camber on my S2000 and called around, nobody would touch it. Ended up doing it myself, this was before Pompeii was open.

Thanks for all of the great replies. I spoke to the owner of First Class HALT. He claims to have a certified NSX tech he got from an Acura dealer. My wife is driving down the S2000 on Thursday; he has asked me to bring it by so he can give it the once-over. I'll give him a shot. It it doesn't go well, I'll take a look at the dealer or a specialist in Atlanta.

Don't forget Acura of augusta. They have been very highly respected for a long time.

Talked to my wife tonight. She was going to drive down the S2000 from Indy tomorrow. But she is having some back pain, so she might drive down the NSX instead (much more comfortable on longer drives). Either way, I'm excited to have one of them here in this great weather!!

Maybe go to the C&C in Asheville sometime. Great roads around there!

Asheville just lost their C&C location, it is now moved to Hendersonville which is closer.
Charlotte also just lost their location as well.

I will be out at the next one in May. Second Saturday of the month.
I usually attend the Greenville one as well. I am down to do both and drive after both.

ANy update on First class halt? I spoke with them on the phone about doing some work on my 97. He seemed knowledgeable. He is going to get me an estimate on a belt service. I cant remember the last time I allowed someone to work on one of my cars. So, this is a new experience. I really want to do it myself, but for some reason I am scratching my chin. Maybe its the heat, and I am pretty busy with other stuff right now. If this doesnt work out I may just wait until fall/winter and do it myself. Thanks.

Garage?

Hi BamaFan, That was me with the silver 05 that you talked with at last months C&C at Michelin. You were driving through in your pick up. I gave you my card. Did you build your garage?

Sorry I didn't see these posts.

1) emac First Class Halt has my NSX now but, frankly, I'm a bit nervous about them. The owner says he was a certified NSX Tech in California for years. But their handling of my issue has me scratching my head. I'll write a separate thread about is.

2) Ricagoni We have finalized the design and have two bids for the work. Waiting for the final approval from the neighborhood architecture committee. We have made it through two of three steps. I'm still thinking that I will go for a double lift, so I can store both the NSX and the Lincoln Continental Convertible above our dd's.

Thanks to both of you for asking!

Thanks for the update. I am taking my car to their Anderson shop today. Fingers crossed. Hopefully your issue will get resolved. Keep us posted.

Odd that he would have you take it to the Anderson location since he is the only one that can work on them.

Please be cautious. Check out my thread on the "NSX Owner" thread. They are not doing well on my car.
