turn signal troubles

I am experiencing the turn signals not cancelling troubles some others have reported. I have removed the switch unit and cleaned the contacts and it is still not working, when I manually depress the white tabs on the module with my fingers there is a slight click in the unit but the blinker stays on and the blinker stalk never moves. Before I pay the $255 for a new unit does anyone have any other guesses on fixes?

Just like the other electronics in our cars, the turn signal control unit has a tendency to have leaky capacitors.

I would open up the other box and investigate.

opened up the main unit and it looks clean/fine as well...
