Type-S Announced

No saddle or blue interior options this time

Funny that the red calipers on the carboceramics cost less than the other colors

When I specced my 2017 the black calipers cost less than the other colors

I'm don't like the red calipers but it's the only option for iron brakes. I'd like silver or black. I'm also not a fan of the "NSX" script in the seats, cheapens the look.

Any chance they will delete the script on the seats for you?

I was going to ask. I requested build number 24 if it was possible to match my Zanardi.

I asked for the same thing. Hopefully Honda has our back! Fingers crossed.

My local dealer is quoting msrp. Are there deals to be had that I'm not aware of? Thx
Over MSRP for guaranteed spot. Some dealers doing MSRP for non-guaranteed. I dont think these will ever dip below MSRP.

I agree with Powdbyrice, MSRP is the new price for the time being. I really think they will sell these cars. The dealers are not buying them to have in stock. They are sold cars. So I think that is how they will be consumed. In the end the price is the price.

I put my order in yesterday and went with a yellow exterior with a red leather interior and lightweight package with upgraded wheels. It is NOT for an allocated unit and as was explained to me it is more or less a lottery system for the remaining 200 non-allocated units. It's for MSRP. I'm not going to pay a premium over MSRP from a dealer with allocated slots and who is selling allocated slots for a premium over MSRP. If I get the car great and if I don't I won't be disappointed because I love the 2017 I have now.

beautiful choice. I cant bring myself to do the over 20k markup from our local dealers

Hey guys. New member here (used to spend time on the Lexus forum).

I was able to get an allocated dealer slot at MSRP from one of the top dealers that received 2 slots. I think it was mentioned, but word is the top 30 dealers got 2 slots, and the next 40 dealers got 1 slot. Totaling 100. No need to pay over MSRP, but I also felt these won’t be discounted, especially since it seems they’ll sell all 350, and MSRP on the Type S is bizarrely less than previous years’ MSRP.

I picked matte gray with orchid interior and all options/accessories. They made everyone pick a second color choice in case the matte gray runs out, since apparently those will be limited (I heard limited to 50.)

Welcome by the way. The gray is limited to the first 70. Good luck with your selection.

That matte paint could prove to be a complication. Detail shops generally can't work with them and touching them up is next to impossible.

Yamaha has a matte paint they put on motorcycles they claim to be "self-healing". Perhaps the Acura formulation has some type of advanced tech that could be a bonus.

I'd be wary of a matte finish on any car I planned to own for more than a few years.

I'm completely disappointed. I waited for the Type R that never materialized and now wish I would have purchased the standard car last year. The S isn't what I would go for - I'd rather have over the top performance and styling of a Type R (and was willing to go as high as the $300's) or the standard car the way I want it. If Acura would allow me to order the Type S with no S badges anywhere and body color paint on the carbon front, rear and roof, I might do it. Don't think they'd go for that however.

Quote from Acura News

This exclusive matte metallic finish requires new handling and shipping techniques at the PMC, to ensure it is fully protected when the completed vehicle is being transported. This includes a new protective film applied to the car, and a new, thicker and softer body covering for transportation. In addition, special care and training will be given to Acura dealers, who will instruct owners on the…

Sounds too much like a balata golf ball...

My local Acura dealer is one the 31-70 that got one guaranteed allocation, which the owner of the dealership is keeping for himself. I placed my order Friday morning (8/13) for MSRP and I am first in line for an additional allocation at this dealership. Hopefully Acura takes care of us Zanardi owners. Fingers crossed!

Indeed. She went to Faraday, but is now at Nissan. Next GTR is going to look like an NSX

I think I saw the spy photos already ;)

did anyone hear these have all sold already?

Why did they go with Pirelli?

I would also be keen on that info

In the past i let the NSX Specialist know that some Acura buyers are avoiding German products (WWII, etc) and it was a dumb move to have Contis on the car

I was told they tried to go with Michelin and had development issues, rubber chunking, supposedly because Michelin typically designs for cars that have some tire slipping before the car hooks up (ex. Porsche) and the NSX has pretty much no tire slippage

I wonder if the F1 relationship between Honda and Pirelli got things going

I will say that my Pirelli winter tires are wonderful and I am planning to get the Pirelli summer tires when my Contis wear out
