Hello!

This is my first post to the forum and I want to say that I really admire everybody's enthusiasm and knowledge here, so I know this is the place to come for help!

I am interested in in getting this car on ebay as my 1st NSX:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=5337&item=2430515261

and I would like some input on what you think it's worth as well as specific concerns regarding its age vs low miles.. I suspect the car will not meet reserve. But it's a local sale and that might be worth some leverage.

Being such low mileage, I worry that maybe it hasn't been run enough, and parts that have been relatively inactive for 12 years may be prone to breaking? Is this realistic? I have the luxury of having skilled mechanics in the family, so I'm not worried about preventive expenses (like window regulators). But I think at 15K the snap ring probably hasn't had time to fail yet.

What do you feel is a fair value for this car with some assumptions such as it being out of snap ring range or having been repaired for that, having had the timing belt changed etc?

Anybody have any info on this car, or a CARFAX? VIN is

JH4NA1151MT001843

On a separate note, I notice that 'high' mile cars go for a steep discount. I never thought that 80,000 miles was high for a Honda, but do NSX's wear out at 100K? I mean, if I buy a nice car with 80K, put 5K/year on it like most people do, shouldn't it last me another 20 years, if it wears like most Hondas?

Can I expect this kind of durability and therefore be looking to buy a $25K car instead? Especially if the clutch is new etc?

Thanks for your help...

This car is almost certainly NOT in the snap ring range.

I would assume that the timing belt has NOT been changed.

asummers said:
do NSX's wear out at 100K?
No. If they have been well maintained, they can continue to run well beyond that point, even beyond 200K.

Yes.

A car with 100K miles has more things that go wrong than a car with 15K miles, just because some things take a long time before they need repair. I would be surprised if a car with 15K miles needs a clutch replacement or a Bose amp repair. But not on a car with 100K miles.

I think this car is worth anywhere from $33K to $38K, depending on condition and maintenance.
