believe it or not, it was when I met stormrider maybe...a year ago when he had his black 97. Damn it was awesome.
not sure if this is a re post from the past ...did a search ..but came up empty..so........
When was the first time you saw a NSX in real life? How old were you? What color was the NSX? and what was your reaction?..
My first real life NSX spotting was back in 1992 I was 17 at the time. The NSX was black in color and a silver FD RX7 parked next to it at my high school. Turned out a couple of teenage kids from Hong Kong owned the 2 cars. I chatted with them for a bit when they asked me if I wanted to go for a ride in both cars. I jumped at the opportunity to ride in both my dream cars...From that moment on, I realized that the magazine photos never gave the either car justice....I was in awwwww for a very long time...

I was 28 the year was 1994. The car was a 1991/red owned by a Cornell student from Boston. The car was parked in the parking lot of an apartment complex where I was visiting a friend. I just happen to look it the direction of where the car was just as the owner slid the cover off. I can still see it in my mind as if it happened yesterday.
yes, it was!!![]()
wait, so my new one is not!!![]()
it was back in 92 or 93, I was crossing a cross walk and there's a silver sitting right in front of me, sunset onto its roof, my response is wow, it's nice color and it's low... my buddy was all happy cuz nsx always his love.
I haven't really felt in love with the nsx until I visited Prime. and read the article saying the nsx is the best reliability car in US.
I was about 24 or 25 (1994) working at Tognotti's Auto World (a local hot-rod parts store) as a delivery driver. I was able to drive all sorts of cars, C4 and C5 Vettes, Lexus, Infiniti, etc, so I had developed a good working impression of what cars I liked. At the time, the new RX-7 was my favorite. Anyway, one day a brand new black NSX came in to the tire center to have polished '94 seven spoke factory wheels installed. I didn't get to drive it or even sit in it, but the car just knocked me out. The only part of the car that I was able to get a good view of was the rear aluminum suspension. The sculpted double wishbone suspension looked so RIGHT, like an organic-based skeleton. I knew from that small introduction that this was no ordinary car. Ever since then I knew that I had to have one of these cars, even though until last year I didn't even know what they cost. When I bought mine last year, I discovered that my first impression was correct, that the NSX is indeed incredible, in every aspect.
Sorry for my run-on discussion, but I only had a minute here at work to write this.

Mine was back in 1993 when I was still in college. I remember that I went to a bank to deposit a check when I saw a red/black NSX parked waaaay out in the booneys.. I remember driving over and getting out of my car to walk around it..
I must've walked around it 5 times before I got back into my econobox and drove home.. since then, I always knew that one day, I would own one.

The year was 2002... I was looking at buying a Porsche or Ferrari, however owning a Prelude at the time I was invited to a tech night by the local honda club.
The tech night was on the NSX. I sat and listened to the Honda Australia guy (not a salesman by the way that is what the dealers are for) During that talk I met (not personally, but on video) the people who have worked for over 20 years at Honda, and these are the men who hand build these cars ...
The car is very rare here, but this tech night reminded me of when the NSX was released and I remembered that Ayrton Senna had some input into the design. So I decided to have a look at one...
I did an internet search of cars around Australia and there were 2 for sale. One of them was only 1hr drive away on the Gold Coast. I made an appointment for the following day, a Sunday so they weren't open.
I arrived early and called the salesman, I didn't seem to be in the right area for a car sales yard... I was at, what looked like, someones garage. I called the salesman (actually I found out he was not a salesman at all but a property developer who loves cars and buys only cars that he likes to drive. Catch is to make it a tax dodge or is that a side businessthey are all for sale!. There were M3's, porsches, some vintage stuff and a Ford Cobra in this unassuming garage) Anyway, he said he was about a miniute away...
I can remenber this moment as clear as yesterday.....
The salesman turned up in a Berlina Black '93 coupe... And the sound.... Can't describe exactly what I felt but the car was much smaller and lower and wider than the magazine photos had led me to believe...
OMG!![]()

I took it for a test drive... Now compared to the Porsches I was test driving and the 911 I used to own... This car felt 20 years more developed.. The gear shift fell right into my hand... Amazing that everything was where it should be... I started the car,! Time for the test drive, my first drive in a NSX...
I am STILL on that test drive!!
So my story... The first NSX I ever saw for real... I bought it!!!
Thanks for reading my story...
1998 NSX - Stock
1991 NSX TT - Not so stock...
Last year I drove past Boardman (ohio) Acura and looked right and saw a black NSX in the showroom and exclaimed very loudly "HOLY SHIT!" and I almost rear ended another car. Wanted one ever since
1991. I saw one parked on the street and did not think much about it. Then in 1993, there was this urologist at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore driving a red one daily. I was a student then and was drooling all over the car. I knew I would get a NSX one day.
Steve
1991 and the local dealer had a red one on the showroom roped off. Wouldn't allow test drives or anything. They said either you know what it is and what it or you don't. Period.
Well sadly, I knew what it was and wanted it but my Pizza Hut job paying $3.65 hour wasn't going to get it.![]()
1991 and I was 15. Fort Wayne Acura had a red one and a black one that they would park out on the front grass by the road and would park in the service drive every night. I remember thinking they were the most amazing cars I had ever seen. I would go by almost every night and peek through the service drive windows just to get a good look at them. Finally I got a job at the dealership washing cars and when one of the customers had to have their '91 Berlina Black/Ivory NSX picked up at a local body shop I bribed the Service Manager $50 to let me do it. He did...and I was hooked. I had to have one. Years later I bought one that looked identical to the first one I ever drove and...well...you know the rest.![]()

Because it is my life, that's why....
It was 91 or early 92 and I was about 28 living in SF. The silver NSX was parked on the street outside of my office. It stopped me dead in my tracks and made me late for work many times.
I knew that this was the car that I would have someday. The were many "other things" to do and take care of first, but it finally happened.
It was actually my wife that pushed me when I decided to look for one.
I will always remember that first NSX very clearly, like yesterday.
Another fond NSX memory was the first, test drive in my current car with my wife in the passenger seat.
I hit the throttle hard on an entrance ramp, looked over at my wife and she told me to put a deposit on the car. That's my girl![]()
1991 NSX Sold 12-5-05
Heh, naw, I worked as a driver from 1992 to 1997. Sorry for the confusion.Originally Posted by Steve

I saw my first one as a kid, can't remeber exactly where, but I did the usual "Holy Crap", as I am sure everyone did.
I would see one around Atlanta here and there for the next 10 years or so and then.....
Last year, I was test driving Escalades and Navigators; trying to decide which one to buy. Well, one evening after lot shopping, we stop into a sporting goods store so my wife could get some shoes. I was actually all pissed off because she wanted me to go with her (never can make up her mind in less than an hour).
We pull into the parking lot, right next to a black NSX, I get out of my car and walk around it to look at the NSX, and I tell my wife, that is what I want to buy. She sounds off with a "yeah right" and brushes me off, saying you are buying an SUV for the family. I say or rather mumble "I am getting one of these (pointing at the black beauty in front of me). We walk inside, I look over my shoulder as if I am leaving my son behind.
I spend the next 48 hours reading up on the NSX, much of the info I learned here at PRIME (THANKS).
I find one in Buckhead Atlanta, the price is 12K$ over book. I am sceptic when I go see it. I meet the guy, he takes me to the parking garage it is in. We walk around the curved ramp and I see her, dark black, wheels partially turned so I could see the 18" Konig rims and 30 series tires, she was sleek, sexy and smooth. It was next to a 911 and an SLK, which is next to a F360. I knew this was the car for me, took 2 days to get the funds and she was mine.
I blame the whole thing on my wifes shoes, otherwise I would be driving a tank right now, putting 65$ worth of gas in the tank each, and paying higher insurance rates than on the NSX..
For my NSX I go 15K$ further with options and services that I felt she needed, I got her like I want her. I love and trust this car. sniff sniff ..... pardon me I need to get a tissue.... having an NSX moment here![]()
Thanks to my wife's shoes.

I find a few for sale here in the north GA area, premium prices.

I saw one for the first time in early 91 in college. My buddy came back to school after the weekend with one. His dad bought it for him as a gift.![]()
In 1990 there was a show called "beyond 2000" - aussies should remember this show. It was a technology based show that preview cutting/bleeding edge technologies. They had a special on the "first japanese supercar". I watch it with my dad at the time on a 2nd hand tv set we got from a yard sale. TV was so old that you could bearly make out the shape of the car. But from what I did manage to see, I was ecstatic - as most kids would be.
Never thought I would get one. We were quite poor - I had a pizza for the first time when I was 20. With hard work and some luck, managed to get myself a T about 2 months ago.
Fall 1991...11 years old...I was at a Boy Scout meeting at our local church...walked out and there it was... I remember how it was silver, but under the moonlight it would reflect this soft blue hue, and as I walked up, at 11 years of age, I remember standing taller than the car...
I didn't know anything about cars at the time, but I remember going home to do some research--I had remembered the "A" emblem I saw on the car and searches of "Honda" and "Acura" came up (heck, the "H" and "A" looked the same to me). I didn't know any better, and for the longest time, I vowed that one day I would own this "Honda Acura." It wasn't until I was in middle school that I finally learned what this car actually was.
24 years old now--been dreaming about this car for more than half my life, and if I get my promotion next year, you bet you know where the bonus will be headed...
First one I saw was back in 93 or 94, when I was still in high school, but saw it driving the other way on the freeway. Knew what it was right away and it was pretty cool looking.... clean white one with black roof. I would notice when I see one on the road how low and wide looking it was. I would always see them on the road driving the other way but never up close until 99 when my college roommate's dad picked up a brand new 99 silverstone NSX-T from Niello in Sac, with just about every Comptech option on it. Needless to say, it was a pretty sweet experience![]()
First time was in 2000 at an Acura dealship while buying our son's Integra. Very nice car, but steep price tag. But my first time seeing one up close and personal was May '03 when we went to look at the inventory at an exotic car dealership in Bellevue, Washington. They had a black/black '97 displayed outside and we tooked it for a test drive. I was thrilled by the car and I do like black on certain models of cars. But when the sales rep took us to the detail shop to see the red/black they had just acquired, it stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away.
Since my hubby let me drive his brand new Saleen Mustang off the lot back in 1996 and although he offered to let me drive the NSX home the next day, I figured I was in his debt and deferred the honor to him.![]()
In 1991 when I was buying my 1992 Legend. On the showroom floor, drool....
Hi
First time I saw one for real was in 2002.
A now friend of mine showed up at a our annual Club Honda meeting with a 1991 black/red. I had since I read magazines back in 1991 wanted one, but never thought that I would ever buy one.
Then fast forward to this time last year. I travel to Zurich to pick up my Silver beauty. Dream come true.
Since then I have driven about 25.000km including a trip down to Zurich again.
