I mean really, on SNL you only have a total of 5 minutes of singing. There is no need to fake it whether it be illness or whatever, unless the label knows you are no good to begin with or studio produced.

If you ask me, if she really had acid reflux like she claimed and could barely talk, then why was her speech so effortless in the end when she was blaming everything on her band playing the wrong song.
