    Post Jammers

I've just purchased a heavily-modified NSX and will be needing protection (I didn't buy it to go 55). Does anyone here have experience with the Phantom-RCD: http://www.1-radar-laser-jammers-det...ar-jammer.html
Or have you tried the laser jammer?

I've always had detectors (good ones) but still get tickets now and then. I've been using the Phantom scrambler (by Rocky Mountain) and find it to be worse than useless as it inspires undeserving confidence.
It makes more sense to me to use the jammer than even a V-1. Comments? Or other jammers? Thanks.

This was covered on NSXSC forums, there is a guy over there who swears by jammers. Don't remember if he prefers Lidatek or Blinder or what. Do a search over on "the other forum".

Yeh, that one! Thanks for busting my chops for being too lazy to do the guy's legwork for him! No soup, thanks - I've lost my appetite...

They don't work. This has been discussed here ad nauseum as well:

Okay, okay. To all those who wanted to rip me a new one for not reading the FAQ section . . . .I had and I went back and reread it as well as a lot of other material on the web. Why isn't there a concensus on this? The independent labs show that the Phantom RCD/Scorpion works and there seems to be no doubt that the Lidar lasar jammer works so why are people still getting a V1? It's cheaper, true, but it seems intuitively obvious that a Jammer would be more valuable than a warning device. Anybody out there using these and getting tickets? (The legality argument is still controversial as the jammer people have a very cogent reply involving free speech.) I'm spending way too much time trying to decide which way to go; I need some concrete evidence not just random opinions. Thanks all.

Because active jammers such as the Phantom RCD are illegal (I don't think it's available any more), and the laser jammers don't protect against radar.

David Allen is having trouble posting and wanted to post the following:

The last time I heard, jammers do NOT work. It's like a 'instant hair removal system' that you apply as a topical cream. One or two people say it works, but the other 100 say it doesn't work and want their money back.

The real way to test is to have a friend who is a cop - meet and see if he can get you.

I also remember seeing a local overview of jammers a few years ago, and the technology itself didn't do enough to make a difference.

I drive my NSX fast, yet safe - I once had a Valentine 1 in my car, but it really didn't do anything for me because: a) cops with their radar on full-time are usually driving along in traffic (usually against you) and you see them way before time, or b) pulse. Not even the V1 can protect you from it.

The V1 has come in handy in the few times a cop is pulsing up ahead, but generally a cop won't pulse unless he knows a car is speeding, and then shoots out after his victim.

Just drive VERY aware and keep your eyes open. I've had to train myself to watch for hiding spots and in 6+ years of owning an NSX, I've never gotten a speeding ticket. I'd say my average speed on the highway is around 80 (here in the Denver area, and same in Phoenix).

Your call, but driving responsibly (and I'm not referring to the speed limits) is the best thing to do.
