Can any northern Indiana or southwestern Michigan NSX owners recommend a good reputable dealer to have a timing belt / drive belts / water pump service done. I will be taking delivery of a 1991 NSX with 80k miles on Saturday and I want to have this done very soon. I believe the car has the original timing belt.

The three closest dealers to me are: Fort Wayne Acura, East Acura in Kentwood MI, & Joe Rizza Acura in Orland Park IL. Does anyone have any positive or negative experiences with any of these dealers they would be willing to share? If there are any others dealers that I should be considering taking the car to I would greatly appreciate that information too.

I can't comment about any of the dealers listed but I did just go through my 92 35K mile car with timing belt, and a bunch of other general maint. items. It all came to about $3K. Suburban Acura in the Detroit area did the work.

You might try Brookfield Acura. They have been listed here on many posts due to their vast knowledge of the NSX. I have also decided to have the upper case of the transmission replaced due to snap ring concerns and while they are doing that I am going to have the clutch done as well. I have already talked with John at Brookfield. I was also provided a 20% parts discount.

Mitch (Meeyatch1) has spoken negatively of the dealership in Fort Wayne. He notes that their former NSX techs opened their own shop, The Import Doctors in Fort Wayne, and recommends them.

I've met Bill Taylor, the lead NSX tech at East Acura in Grand Rapids, and I believe he is knowledgeable and very competent.

There are nine Acura dealers in the Chicago area. Most of them don't do a lot of NSX service work. The two that do, and are highly recommended for anything as complicated as a timing belt or clutch replacement, are Woodfield Acura in Hoffman Estates (847-519-9550, about 10 miles west of O'Hare) and Pauly Acura in Highland Park (847-433-8200, about 25 miles north of downtown Chicago). Acura of Brookfield, west of Milwaukee (800-383-3936), also is highly recommended, but with two very good dealers for NSX service here in Chicago there is no need to drive an extra 100 miles past Chicago unless you are having extensive aftermarket work done.

Hello! I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana and can tell you to AVOID Fort Wayne Acura like the plague!! They are total morons, and I would be happy to expand on that in greater detail if you wish over the phone. The NSX tech from Fort Wayne Acura actually got fed up with the dealers crap and left with another tech from there and they opened their own shop, The Import Doctors. I take both my NSX's, both my Integras, both my Accords, and other cars, to them since they are very reasonably priced and stand behind their work. Just ask for Shayne and tell him that Mitch sent you there and he will take care of you. My NSX's get driven way more than most and The Import Doctors are part of the reason that my cars are in such great shape mechanically. Thank you all for the great information. The Import Doctors sounds like a great place to go plus they are only about 60 miles away from me. I will give Shayne a call to schedule an appointment after I get the car registered and titled in Indiana. Thanks again Mitch. I will not be able to make the NSX club event on May 21-23 but look forward to meeting some follow owners in the near future.
