Mechanics????

I need to get the timing belt and water pump done on my 91, as it has 90.6k on the meter, and I read about all these great stories on their local mechanic, and was wondering if there are any close local dealerships here in Charlotte, NC that anyone knows of. I can take it to the dealer, but thought I would ask first. Dealer quoted me at $900+tax for 90k mile service. (which doesn't include replacing water pump i don't think, forgot to ask)

Leith Acura in Cary is very highly regarded by the NSX folks in the triangle area. I know that's ~150 miles away. Don't know about anything in Charlotte but that price is typical for the 90K.

I agree 100% with Chris. If you can get Barney to come to you, on bring it to him, it is by far your BEST choice.

Actually, the distance is about twice that (422 miles from Nashville to Charlotte).

everyone in the boston area that i know of uses a dealership. since you're not willing to go to a dealership as you noted in your oil change post as they are too far (i dont get that, its only 6 miles to acura of boston in brighton from the financial district), you're going to have to find someone yourself.

I would never have a major service done on my NSX by someone who doesn't do them often. Even if they're a top-notch mechanic, it will take them longer than someone who does them all the time, and they won't know the little time-saving and job-saving "tricks", or the "gotchas" to watch out for.
