I've got to add 7% sales tax to the price (versus NO SALES TAX for a private party sale) and a one-way flight up to drive it back to Athens, GA. So I'd be looking at about $41k when all is said and done.

$41k will get you a '97+ w/ avg., above avg miles this winter (inference based on last year's winter; of-course now that the NSX is discontinued, things might be different which I doubt though at this point in time).
Remember though, regardless the model year, completion of maint'/service intervals (ie. 4yr/60k & 6yr/90k) should be considered when pricing and acquiring a NSX. That is generally a $2-2.5k expense.
If owning a NSX_coupe is preferable to a NSX-T for you, then the '94 mentioned seems to be a very nice example provided that it's upto date on it's maint'/service. I'd wait it out a bit; theis slightly higher than what the market dictates for this time of year.

Seriously though, I avoid dealers if I can. In addition to the tax rule, they are more expensive, and I hate "the game". I bought a Protege5 for my wife a couple of weeks ago. The dealers were selling them for $13K - $15K. I bought from an individual for $10K. He was asking $10,900, I offered $9,500, He said $10,500, I said $10K and we were done. No games, no "let me talk to my manager", no processing fee, no paperwork and advertising fee, no BS. I test drove it, liked it, we spent 30 seconds negotiating, and then I gave him cash and he gave me a title and bill of sale. The whole process was painless. I've never walked out of a dealer happy.
