    Sound System Set-ups

Getting ready to re-do my sound system and would like to get some idea's from other NSX owners how they mounted there equipment (ie.amps, NAV systems) Pics prefered if you have any. Any pics on plexi glass or MDF used will help. Trying to get creative ideas.

    I've installed all JL AUDIO

COMPONENTS... 5 1/4 in the door space instead of stock... I installed the Tweeters in the triangle sash's in the doors.

SUB... zetoolman's sub box... do a search here to find it... it has a JL 10 inch sub in it and fits in the passenger footwell space.. it deos subtract about 4 inches of pasenger legroom

AMPS... two JL AUDIO amps, a 150x2 for the components... and a 250x1 for the sub. I removed the tool tray and installed both amps in the trunk under the carpet where the tools were.

I'll try to get pictures up here.

I was considering mounting my amp in where the tools are located but I wanted to see some applications dont know if to enclose it under plexi glass since it will get hot and might short the amp. How did you cover up the amps?

    D'Ecosse,

Did you just cut out an entire piece of MDF to cover the floor of the truck then line it with new carpet? Hoe did you attach the plexi to the bottom of the MDF? ANy suggestions I was concedering installing my amp in the same location does yours ever get to hot and shut down briefly? I also need to mount my alpine Navigation system but that has to be mounted flat in te trunk and I dont know where to place it so it looks like a clean install.

If you look at the various pictures, you can see that the right side is fitted, while the left side has a straight edge that butts against the crossover enclosure, but still requires a triangular "cheater" piece - this relief is in order to get the piece in & out of the trunk otherwise it ends up bigger than the hole at the top!
You could do this various ways - cut it two or whatever, but for me I liked this method.
The base of the crossover box has an extension platform that the new floor rests on - there are various other support legs (additional MDF rails) fixed on the underside of the false floor to achieve both support points & a level floor.

.... Hoe did you attach the plexi to the bottom of the MDF? ...
I routed out a rabbit on the underside of the MDF around the perimeter of the cut-out, then the plexi is simply screwed onto the MDF.
... does yours ever get to hot and shut down briefly?
No - I have cooling that flows across the amp - My false floor is above the true floor and allows air flow between the two. I pump a lot of power through that amp but never had a problem once. I also insulated the underside of the floor to reduce the thermal transfer form the exhaust.

... I also need to mount my alpine Navigation system but that has to be mounted flat in the trunk and I don't know where to place it so it looks like a clean install ..
I think it would go where my crossovers are, or even with those there should be enough room to mount in that location (just in front of them) - you can play with the configuration of things as you choose - you could flip the whole thing left to right for example, have the DVD drive stick out in a platform (like the pics of Stacy's amps for example) You just need to be sure you can still get the floor in & out
