How did you get the Ti rod? Did you have to attend xpo or something? I'd like to have one as well if I can...
Recall the goodwill gesture by 'Prime member Woodwork & American Honda towards the NSX Community/Owners this past fall? Many of us were gifted a titanium connecting rod from the NSX engine at no cost! Since then, many NSX'ers have been wondering how to prominently display this piece of automotive history...
I'm looking to get feedback on something I've been thinking for awhile...
I can get a marble/onyx dispay plate/tray custom-made from my uncle who is in the import/export trade. He is visiting this week from abroad and I can get him a final mold in hand to produce and export.

Est. Cost:
$25-$35 (at most) (have to work-out final numbers... more than likely to be less!)
* #1 factor for estimated cost is weight (amount of marble/onyx)
(I simply attached pics/links above to images as it's difficult to explain; those were meant for general ideas)
Open for suggestions, ideas, comments, insights, etc'... pretty much we can make whatever we want in whatever color/style/size/design, he can produce it. We have until Wed/Thur of this week.
If there isn't much interest (>25 people), it's all good - I'll just tell him to send me one. The international freight would kill the deal for a handful of them...![]()

The allocation and distribution of the titanium connecting rod for the NSX was a goodwill gesture, first-come - first serve...Originally Posted by Veleno

wow I completely missed that post!!! Now I'm bummed!
Great idea! I'm in for two if you can get this set up. I'm leaning toward the black and gold in a desk/table top plaque style but am open to whatever the group decides on. I was lucky enough to receive one of the Honda gifted rods from Woodwork and have it on my desk at work. I like it so much I'm looking for another one so I can have one at home as well!

Count me in for one as well. I favor the darker color to add more contrast to the metal.

Cool, right-on guys! I'll try to get better representive pics of the darker onyx and marble selections. Also I'll try to see if i can find some basic design/images from area craft/custom-framing and art shoppes.
What about having a base/pedastal for the display plate/plaque... raise it slightly off the surface?

I've told my uncle who was visiting some basic specs' & general idea of what is sought... so I hope to have something to offer in the future. I'll keep updating on this thread.
Basix:
- 5.5in. x 9.5in. x 0.75in.
- onyx -or- marble
- grooved-edges (ie. similar to crown-molding on ceilings)
Possibly:
- "T" type support at one end: 2in. tall x 0.5in. wide carbon-fiber rod/column w/ onyx/marble piece (matching the base) that is slotted, resting on top -> to hold up end of titanium connecting rod at an angle
I'm trying to see if I can somehow incorporate some finished wrought-iron that's been shaped, it's very similar to polished-gunmetal type of finish.
