Congrats! Finally you got it back. You should feel A LOT more low-end TQ and a steady linear power increase. It will never really shove you back in the seat. Get on it tomorrow!Originally Posted by SPA_S2000
Dave, glad to see you're finally back in the car! Can't wait to hear your impressions once you're able to 'get on it'. BTW, when you're ready for emissions, let me know... I've got a guy for you with a legit operation who will do the tailpipe sniff.

I had it out for about 90 minutes this aft.
No issues. I couldnt hear anything that I thought may have been detonation. No funky noises. No CEL. No bizarre smells, nothing. Install seems to have gone well. It was about 37F out.
It feels really fast. Like 996TT fast once you get up into VTEC. The midrange tq is great. If youre in 5th (6sp) cruising along on the highway around 70mph and you step on it, you will notice a MONSTER difference from before. If you drop it down to 4th, hang on, you're going to be at 130mph pretty soon. I had a 1-2 spurt and shat my pants what the difference was.
I havent spent a ton of time in fast fast cars, really just some in the Pturbos, but this felt comparable to those.
I will arange for a dyno asap and will report. But Im expecting around 350whp, or about 100whp gain from the about 250whp I probably had with my AIS and Exhaust.
After my drive today would I believe that the car is 40% more powerful? Yes.

VERY nice to read this... as I have a few more days to goI hate walking out there and seeing her in pieces, but worth the wait. BTW I can not remember if you pulled the cats out? how does the front end feel with the clamps?
Congrats... I bet you're now feeling like the wait was worth it. It's must be like a whole different car after the CTSC install.CT just did a dyno on my '05 with CT i/h/sc/e and it put down 355 rwhp. So I'd expect about the same from your car.
Matt- I still have my cats, although with the thread outlining about 390whp on the base kit, Im wondering if I should abandon social responsibility and start stinkin' it up! That's a huge gain from just yanking those out, equivalent to going with a higher boost set up. And it is without additional risk (if you free up power by removing impedence, is risk elevated?).
My understanding was that the clamps really only come into play during extreme braking, so Im not sure Id be in a position to notice them yet. But something up there feels amazing; either the clamps, the NSXR chassis bars or the front CT sway (or all in combo) has made a noticeable difference even on the street. It feels very tight. My guess is that the NSXR bars are the biggest factor. Quite cool.
My dyno is getting done Saturday.
I cannot believe how crap this car is on gas now. The gas guage is like a windshield wiper.

I installed CTSC [Whipple SC] in 2004 just prior to driving to NSXPO in NY. Drove straight through from Chicago running 65-90+ and got 29 mpg. On the track under constant boost it was as if there was hole in the gas tank.Originally Posted by SPA_S2000

Talked to the tech jsut now, should fire up tomorrow. the header and test pipes and clutch have not been put in yet either....
When's your first track day?
May 8th at Mosport, although I may go for a day on a development track April 14th...Lower speed, tighter track probably a good way to start the season.

I'm off work today, I hope we finish her by the weekend..... I can't wait to hear that sound.
Matt
OBD2 + AEM = failed emissions. AEM does not talk to the computer so you will fail. Also AEM's are not as good as the stock computer at ALL, you lose the 1300+ check engine codes and with a aem you dont get a check engine it just blows up. Just like when I had the stock ECU and my 2nd injector went bad if I had a aem I would of never known it and the motor would of blown.

I will start with the dissapointments, and there were 3.
First, one of the reasons I wanted the dyno done was to get A/F. They could have done it, but they dont do sniffers, only header taps. I was reluctant to have a tap put into my headers for this, so we skipped it. This is the biggest dissapointment.
Second, they kept loosing the read off of the coil pack, so the HP vs RPM stops around 6750ish for all of the runs. They said the plug was made for coil wires and it just doesnt have a good connection. So they plotted HP and Torque vs Speed instead for the charts.
Lastly, it was raining yesterday and as a result, I was running by defroster. Yes, thats right, these pulls were done with the AC ON!
On to the good stuff!
HP vs Speed
Run 1 Peak HP of 356.9 and 243.7ft-lbs
Run 2 Peak HP of 345.0 and 246.3ft-lbs (this run stopped WAY sooner then the other two, and was tracing perfectly with them all the way)
Run 3 Peak HP of 358.7 and 250.4ft-lbs
Throw out run #2 which just ended too soon.
Here are the graphs.
Here is the most informative graph vs speed.
Here is what they could get off of RPM:
Im certainly happy with the power the car is putting out at basically 360whp.
Relevant mods are the Cantrell AIS, Comptech unifilter, Taitec JGTC parallel exhaust and the new autorotor CTSC 6lb. No headers.
Im debating about putting an AEM EMS on. I dont feel that I need more power then I have now (yet) but Ive got to say that Im worried about safety during long track days.
Would AC have hurt my power or does it turn itself off in such situations?

congrats!!!
You might gain another 5-10HP with the AC off I would guess. Looks like your car is running well. I wouldn't mess with it. You are literally talking about spending another 5K for 20HP.Originally Posted by SPA_S2000

Why not do a header tap? Won't they just patch up the hole once they are done?
They said that they would do just that, and had I known that that is what they were going to do I likely would have asked around here to figure out if I should or should not. But without checking around first I wasnt going to ask these guys to drill a hole in my stock manifold.Originally Posted by SaberX

One other comment - I gotta say how impressed I am at how consistent the results are looking from the new CTSC superchargers. It looks like the 3.0L are throwing down 350ish to the wheels and the 3.2L are making 360-370ish. Which is fantastic!![]()
Yeah the header tap would have given you nice, pre-cat A/F which would be a lot more reliable than the sniffer in the tailpipe.
Given that you do push your car around the track, I think an AEM is a wise investment just from the 'safety' perspective, particularly with the new design. And hell, you can never have enough horsepower. You'll definitely feel the difference when you add a lot more area under the curve and higher topline with AEM + 9lb pulley. Bah.. what's another $5k? Cash in some of them uranium shares!![]()

I can go either way right now. If I was confident that on track days I will be fine from a safety perspective, Id stick with what Ive got. I dont know what the answer to the safety question is though. Assuming a great tune, then I agree the AEM is probably safer, but I dont want any hiccups with the tune; this is my daily driver you know.
BTW my SOS harness bar and harness and steering wheel hub will arrive on Monday. Thanks Chris!
