Little Johnny and Jenny are only 10 years old, but they just know
that they are in love. One day they decide that they want to get married, so Johnny
goes to Jenny’s father to ask him for her hand.

Johnny bravely walks up to him and says “Mr. Smith, me and Jenny
are in love and I want to ask you for her hand in marriage.”
Thinking that this was the cutest thing, Mr. Smith replies, “Well
Johnny, you are only 10. Where will you two live?”
Without even taking a moment to think about it, Johnny replies
“In Jenny’s room. It’s bigger than mine and we can both fit there
nicely.”

Still thinking this is just adorable, Mr. Smith says with a huge
grin, “Okay then how will you live? You’re not old enough to get a job.
You’ll need to support Jenny.” Again, Johnny instantly replies, “Our
allowance.. Jenny makes 5
bucks a week and I make 10 bucks a week. That’s about 60 bucks a
month, and that should do us just fine”

By this time Mr Smith is a little shocked that Johnny has put so
much thought into this. So, he thinks for a moment trying to come
up with something that Johnny won’t have an answer to.

After a second, Mr.Smith says, “Well Johnny, it seems like you
have got everything all figured out. I just have one more
question for you. What will you do if the two of you should have
little ones of your own?”

Johnny just shrugs his shoulders and says “Well, we’ve been lucky
so far…”

Ever heard the story of the giant ship engine that failed? The ship’s owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure but how to fix the engine.

Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was a youngster.

He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work. He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom.

Two of the ship’s owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer.

He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into life.

He carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed! A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand dollars.

“What?!” the owners exclaimed. “He hardly did anything!”

So they wrote the old man a note saying, “Please send us an itemized bill.”

The man sent a bill that read:

Tapping with a hammer .. $ 2.00

Knowing where to ……… $ 9998.00

Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort in your life makes all the difference.

A young man asked Socrates the secret of Success. Socrates told the young man to
meet him near the river the next morning. They met.

Socrates asked the young man to walk with him towards the river.

When the water got up to their neck, Socrates took the young man by surprise and
duncked him into the water. The man struggled to get out but Socrates was strong and
kept him there until he started turning blue.

The young man struggled hard and finally managed to get out and the first thing
he did was to gasp and take deep breath. Socrates asked “What you wanted the most
when you were there?” The man replied “Air”.

Socrates said “that’s the most secret to success. When you want success as
badly as you wanted air, you will get it. There is no other secret’.
