    5 Year Anniversary

I can't believe it but 5 years have come and gone since I bought the NSX!
After looking for well over a year, and flying out to Chicago and Beverly Hills only to be screwed around by two Grade A pricks (the other NSX owner-types...) I finally found my car. With a helpful thumbs up by Tony out in Las Vegas, I bought a one-way and met the owner, the night manager of the Crazy Horse 2 (where they filmed Ocean's 11). The car was black and tan with about 45k on the odo and was pristine. I offered him $34.5 and he took the offer. I got up the next morning and met the owner, exchanged keys/$ and proceeded to fill the tank with premium fuel which I had to spend $2 a gallon for the first time in my life. I thought, that won't happen again....
The drive back was just surreal, from Las Vegas through the desert while spring wildflowers abounded everywhere. The timing couldn't be better as I made it to Phoenix just as an NSX party was starting at Bill Zachar's (the Vice President of NSXCA at the time) house. Mark Basch, who had been very helpful in the guidance of my search/NSX education took a look at the car, asked me what I paid, and said..."Greg, you didn't buy that car, you stole it!" Yes, it was 2001 and a 94 in great shape went for a bit more back then. It made the wait worthwhile and helped me forget the past sordid episodes with fraudulent sellers. Coincidentally, Mark was in So. Cal at the time I flew out to Beverly Hills and had made himself available for a pre-purchase inspection that Saturday. The guy was a lawyer who had been GIVEN the car by Honda for representing them in some case back in 1991. He had quite a house on Benedict Canyon across the street from Jethro Bodine. Obviously money can't buy happiness, or class either in his case. While I was celebrating my ride I began to appreciate this was something different as I saw the 3 NSXs Bill owned. And as Anthony Campbell, an NSX owner in Dallas who I went to high school with in Beaumont and hadn't seen in 17 years put it..."I thought I was just buying a car, but then I realized I had joined a cult". Well fellow cult members it has been a blast enjoying the NSX and getting to know so many interesting, diverse and great people. The NSXPOs in Texas, California and Arizona were all equally memorable both in getting to know other members with whom you may have nothing more in common than a great enthusiasm and appreciation for an awesome car as the track events where I gained an even greater enthusiasm and appreciation of the abilities of the car to perform were realized both behind the wheel of my ride as well as sitting next to other much more experienced drivers/instructors who allowed me to share in their knowledge of driving the car at 10/10.
What a ride it has been.
Thanks to all who have made this experience a memorable and enjoyable part of my life.
It's about squeezing the maximum yield out of life.

    Re: 5 Year Anniversary

Resurrecting an old thread, as my NSX and I am approaching the 5 year mark. It has been an absolule pleasure having the car and being a part of the community. Don't tell, but I am surprising her with a 6 speed for the occasion! Here is to another 5 years!
