I know how much it costs to replace an NSX engine. I'll stick with Honda brand oil filters...
I found a source for cheap oil filters...
Anyone knows about the Denso ? The black non brand name one looks like pretty good quality too (yeah I know, it's just the exterior... with only $4.25, and it's being a tall one. looks like a good deal.)

NSX. Spread the word.
Does anybody know Honda's supplier for the oil filter??

A6000-116749 Denso (OEM) $8.90
It might be Honda's choice without the cool blue paint job. But it is $9, which I think is about $2 less than discounted Honda parts.
At some point the NSX'ers are going to have to determine the original vendor of each product as Honda drops them off their inventory.

Where is the current 'hot spot' for OEM filters right now? I just forked 18$ to my acura dealer for one (because I had let it slip and needed to do it before it got too late and had the day off come up so I couldnt order it...)
Current: 2012 MAZDASPEED3 & 2004 Honda Pilot

Denso (formerly NipponDenso) is a very reputable brand; they've been supplying Japanese makers with parts for decades. However, the filter I recently bought (15400-PL2-004) says it was made by Toyo Roki Mfg Co, Ltd. Maybe Denso was the original vendor and Honda changed vendors midstream? I wouldn't lose sleep by using a Denso filter, but I too will keep buying whatever Honda is selling until someone actually cuts them open and does a side-by-side comparison. It could pay off in the long run, but saving ~$20/year puts it pretty low on my priority list right now. If anyone does it please post back with your findings.
$11.74 from Ray Laks, plus free shipping with a big enough order. Not hard to place at least 1 large order per year with them for maintenance--add in 4 filters/washers.Originally Posted by OneRedNSX
I don't going to budget on things like oil, oil-filter, air-filter, timing-belt or tires. I'll stick with the Honda-stuff too.

Last time I checked Honda doesn’t make oil filters or a lot of the parts that go on their cars. There are different manufactures that make parts for the automotive industries and then label them for the different car mfg. That’s why the Denso filter says OEM.
That's true I think BUT each manufacturer can influence the specifics of a certain part, i.e. S2000 rear tires. I've heard of tire test where they've tested a tire in the same size, same age, everything the same but one was mounted on a new Mercedes and the other was 'just' aftermarket. You couldn't divide them visually BUT the Mercedes tire was longer lasting, more comfortable but much pourer in wet conditions. The testing team concluded then that Mercedes has the tire manufacturer using some 'Mercedes specifics'.Originally Posted by Mynsxjoy
It may be true for some parts to be exactly the same between brands but not true for some parts at all. I call it a good argument for the aftermarket parts industry.
But it's up to your own decision, OEM parts guarranty, aftermarket parts NO guarranty. If I blew my engine I would have very much sleepless nights thinking about if some of the aftermarket parts may caused the failure. With OEM parts the engine blows saver and better.![]()
