Question about the stock stereo system

Recently moved to Norway (and brought my U.S. Acura NSX, 1991) and discovered that I have a problem receiving all the radio stations on the factory stereo. The U.S. spec radio picks up radio stations with i.e. 95,7/95,9/96,1 but not i.e. 95,8/96,0/96,2. Is there anyway to fix this or do I need to change the stereo system?

The standard for US vs European is different, I lived in Germany for 2 years and encountered the same problem with my U.S. Saab I shipped over there in the late 80's.

Sorry but you are going to need to buy a new head unit with the tuner made to European specs

    good luck

Re: Question about the stock stereo system

The EU head unit is quite different and I have one installed in my car.

    Differences I have found:
The EU unit will scroll through FM in .1Mhz increments so it is usable in the US too. It also goes on auto search on buttons 1-4 if the signal is not strong enough...drives me up the wall!!!

    And it even has RDS.

It also scrolls off by 10khz on the AM, but close enough to work fine in the US.

The down side of the EU unit is that it does not have the diversity antenna input and does NOT pick up signal as well as the US unit.

The EU vs US unit appear to be distinctly different, not convertible like the climate control unit

/On second thought: I'll bet the same PLL chip is used and a good electronic's guy can convert the .1Mhz from odd to even.
