My first question when asked about the RPS clutch is...........how big a guy are you?
If you are regular build +, then no problemo. If you are small boned or a little guy, then you may have issues. YMMV![]()
I've had mine for 4k miles and would put it in my car again without hesitation.
Anyone with the RPS clutch installed? Yep
Chatter? Nope
Pedal feel? Very firm
Grip? Absolutely
Break in? About 200 mi.
Complaints? Takes awhile to get used to

I've got a little over 200 miles on mine and I'm still getting used to it. I'm pretty sure my clutch was well on it's way to parts heaven when I bought the car, so having a brand new clutch is quite a difference. Then having an RPS is another shock. I'm just hoping it will last longer than the stock one, but the supercharger install won't help that I'm sure
.
You may want to go with the Exedy Twin Carbon Clutch. Super light, no chatter, OEM pedal pressure, and capable of more power than you can makeIt has stood up to well past 500rwhp with numerous road racing events, more drag racing events, and even more street events.

No problems at all and it holds boosted power levels with ease. When I go to the gym I only have to work out with my right leg now.![]()

Do you have any knowledge of the Tilton triple carbon clutch?

The Exedy clutch you are referring to is a different model than the twin carbon clutch referenced above. Price is different as wellOriginally Posted by Bob Kenney

I am interested in RPS clutch as well.Originally Posted by ANYTIME
Is it as slippable as oem clutch?
Does it require more effort getting off the line from a dead stop than oem clutch?
Chatter when you slip the clutch?

I drove a car with RPS clutch. at first I was skeptical, because everyone on the forum says the clutch is heavy. But after driving (less than 10 minute local and highway combine), the RPS clutch is very easy to get used to. Unlike the comptech PGII.
Armando, you'll love it, it's a great clutch. Great engagement, very smooth, decent pedal pressure, and a normal clutch break in.. No complaints.

It's been one year and 7k miles since. Left thigh is roughly twice the size of my right........![]()
Just kidding. I'm 5' 6" and not exactly what you considered athletic. Car is my daily driver and no problem in daily stop and go traffic. Great grip and smooth take-in. Only time will tell if it can take the horsepower/torque........

The RPS can be engaged slowly and is very smooth, it just requires a decent amount of force. I did a small write up when I first got it installed over a year and half ago.

Still running great. You do sometimes feel some vibration at high RPM but that's all.
I'm a pretty small guy but I have strong calf and feet muscles!I prefer the heavier pedal...

I am familiar with both clutches. I personally prefer clutches that are stiff, but after getting my RPS installed, I love it! The Power Grab clutches are stiff the they feel "heavry". In my opinion, RPS is more responsive. It engages and releases easier compare to the Power Grab clutches.Originally Posted by Track Junkie

I like a heavier clutch as well--a light clutch just feels flimsy. I always felt the OEM pressure was a little too light for a "performance" car anyways.Originally Posted by NSXROC
Don't be confused--the RPS pressure is greater but the engagement itself and the responsiveness is awesome. I've never felt a smoother engaging clutch, ever. It's very nice. It just pushes back a little harder so you've got to be a little slower letting it out from a dead stop.
BTW--there is a difference in pedal pressure between "new" versions of the RPS and the "old" version. The "new" is maybe 10%-20% lighter pressure. I'm not sure what the dates of the change are but if you bought it in 2005 it's definitely the "old". Any RPS bought today from SOS, Downforce or Dali should be the "new" version. With that little decrease anyone should be able to handle the pressure. I always thought myself that mine would be perfect with just teensy weensy bit less pressure. Now it's the case.
See thread: http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showt...t=rps+pressure
I've had mine for about 7000 miles.
It is heavy as hell. When I go for a walk with my wife, we have to take all right turns.
There is no slippage at all. Grabs hard. Mine shudders a little when running hard in first at 7500-8000 rpm.
Engages fast. It is harder to launch smoothly.
Best piece of advice I can give you is to replace the slave cylinder at the same time. There are several threads here about slave cylinders blowing out after an RPS clutch. Mine blew out shortly after the install. It only costs $100.
Bottom Line: If you drive hard all the time, you'll love the RPS clutch. If you cruise alot and get stuck in traffic often, not as much fun.
So far I only have about 100 miles on my RPS clutch (after break in). It's been holding up great with the FX turbo 400+hp/360+ft-lbs. The pedal is a bit heavy but it really didn't take that long to get used to. It has a good catch point and isn't too grabby. I think it is an excellent balance between a street and race clutch.
