I have mine installed with 6 speed but that doesn't sound normal? Mine engages in all gears normally.
Just installed mine, but the shifting is stiff and is reluctant to fully engage in 4th and 5th. Is this normal, or have I forgotten to do something. Just curious. Thanks.

That's what I figured. When I crank the car, it seems to help. Is this maybe an issue of the shifter assembly needing lubrication? If so, what is suggested? Thanks again for the quick response.

I'm assuming you installed it correctly with the provided bolts etc right? I think there are some bolts that needs to be replaced with comptech provided hex bolts. Other than that, I can't really think of anything else. I don't think the two block parts can be installed on the wrong rodIf it started to get crappy only after installing the kit, then i'm not sure if it's anytihing to do with lubrication. HOpefully someone else can chime in...

Thanks for input. I'll keep checking the thread. I haven't gotten it on the road yet, but I will this weekend. That will be the test I suppose.
As for the installation, you are correct. You can't install the blocks on the wrong lever. I torqued the bolts down until they were flush with other side of the block. I followed all the steps (replaced the two bracket bolts also) as well.

Maybe what you're feeling is an increase in the effort required to get the gear lever over into the 4th/5th plane.
I didn't notice an increase in shift effort in the front/back direction when I installed the Comptech short shift kit but the shift effort was noticably higher in the left/right direction.
After removing that part of the short shift kit that reduces the left/right throw, the shift effort went back to normal. Getting the shift lever over to the 4th/5th plane is as easy as before but the throw front/back seems to be as short as it always has been left/right.

Exactly. I would post pics of mine, but you wouldn't be able to see anything. Thanks for the feedback. And yes, it does seem to be the side-to-side movement that is affected the most. I drove it today and it wasn't as bad.
If I were to relubricate the shifter assembly, what should I use, and where specifically are the application points for best results? I've heard of using white Lithium grease (spray), but just wanted to do this before reassembling the entire center console.

How does the short shifter offered by SOS compare to the one from comptech? Anyone have experience with both?
I have a 5 speed. With this kit it will require a little more effort to get into gear but not much. I dont have any problems.
Maybe when the car was sitting there the syncro is allined just right so that
you can not get it into gear. When cranking or running than you shouldn't have this problem. It it doesn't go into gear when running I suspect you have
another problem... Clutch?
Could the bolts that hold down the shift lever bracket be loose and allows things to move a small amount so that you don't get all of the travel to fully engague 5th? It has been some time since I installed one of these.

Thanks Don. Yes, as stated, it was better once I got it on the road. I will lube the shifter assembly anyway. Just for good measure. I think it will take some getting used to, but I do like the decreased length of throw.
