Installed NSX-R Shift Boot and Knob

    Hi primers,

well... i just installed these beauties:

well...everything works fine but i notice that the boot is strechted to the limit when i'm in either in top gears, 1st 3rd and 5th, or in bottom gears, 2nd 4th and Reverse:

i notice that the shift boot had a plastic tie inside the top, where it will stuck in the nut...i tryed to install it as higher as i could...any suggestions??

Suggestion: SOS sells a Short Shift Stalk with longer threads so the knob will screw down further. It's not too bad replacing it. See this thread.

    yeah...i know

i've asked a couple of times arround here if a RHD NSX's stalk is equal to the LHD one....i suppose they are, since the gears are in the same order, but don't know for sure...i ask this, because i would order the OEM NSX-R one...

can anyone answer this to me??? pretty please???

If you use a knob without the shift pattern on it you can delete the nut and screw the knob down more. You will need to do something like this to hold the boot up. I actually used a vinyl piece that goes lower than the threaded section to hold up the boot and the knob screws all the way down to the end of the threads.

The link above was for installing a boot support without removing the console. If you remove it you can use the tie wrap on the boot instead of the metal ring. The important part is the washers.

Here is a old pic with my old boot. It shows the vinyl boot support that i used. You can see it is lower than the threaded section and that allows me to screw the knob all the way down.

If you decide to do this mod you should do the SOS stalk and Daves short shifter all at the same time with the boot and knob. Learn from my mistake..LOL

I also installed the short stalk and Dave's short shifter and have no regrets. Do not worry about it being too low as I wish it could be even lower. There is no stretch at all of the boot.
