Does it hurt the car to drive with check engine light / bad O2 sensor?

Sadly, that's only 2 more years for my '95. I had one O2 sensor replaced this year (free). Seems like one of these go bad every 3-5 years (or 6,000 miles in my case). I'm going to miss that TSB.

I'm crossing my fingers that the local dealership will give me new plugs, etc. even though I'll be well under 75Kmi in 2009.
