Some questions from a new owner in Santa Clara, Norcal

I got my 1991 Sebring Silver last weekend. I am extremely happy.

A few questions regarding maintenance, etc. Please answer if you can. Many thanks in advance!

    1. Where is a reputable place to get a clear bra done? If you know, how much approx?

    2. Where is a reputable NSX maintenance/repair shop near Sunnyvale, that has reasonable prices?
It can be a small family owned shop, or a larger shop. Less expensive is better, but the main thing is that they are efficient and competent. I don't mind travelling too far, as long as they're good (My previous shop is in San Mateo. Family owned, affordable and do very very good work. Rensport)

    3. When is the next meet you guys are having? Some of you still remember me from 2 years ago, when I had my RX7 10th Anniversary. I would like to meet you all again.

    4. Which oil filters should I use? Where can I get them? I have read on Prime that you should use OEM Honda tall oil filters, but apparently they're discontinued(?) Please correct me if I'm wrong, and please give me an option. For my 240SX, I was using Mobil 1 filters with Mobil 1 or Royal Purple oil.

    5. Is anyone using Carbotech brake pads for their NSX? How do you like them compared to stock brake pads? I currently have stock pads on my NSX, but I had Carbotech pads for my 240SX, and they were quite good. They gave out a good amount of dust, but they stopped very well and were easy to modulate.

    6. Where do you go to get your car washed?

That is all I have for now. Thanks again in advance for all of your help, I greatly appreciate it. Have a good one!

Welcome! Any details you care to share about your car?

    1.http://www.detailingdynamics.com/contact.html contact Mike
2.http://www.fahonda.com/ closest to Sunnyvale, there are many others but they are farther away.
    3. There is no formal structure to meets but you can check the Nocal thread for updates.
    4. Stick with OEM, if the tall ones are no longer available you should be OK with the replacement offering.
    5. Use SEARCH you will find your answer. (sorry no personal exp) There is a ton of info on "Braking" for the NSX
    6. See answer for #1. If you are looking for someone to do it for you.
    I detail my own.

Thanks for the quick reply, and thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

    Some details on the NSX

1991 Sebring Silver with colour matched top
    67xxx miles
    Comptech header
    ARK DTX exhaust
Type R upper and lower chassis bars

    - Does Mike have a shop? I checked the website, and the shop is in New York, but they have an online branch in Norcal. I'll give Mike a IM over AIM

    - I'll check with Foreign Affair sometime this month to enquire about maintenance and oil changes and oil filters.

    Thanks again!

If anyone else has any other favorite shop/recommended shop or suggestions please let me know.

Your NSX also has the SOS steering rack bushings. I saw them when I was under your car at Tony's shop in Roseville

Mike Lee is located in Santa Clara. The other part of the business is located in New York. Give Mike a call for detailing. I'm not sure if he is still doing clear bra (he did the one on my S2000 a year or so ago). If he is not, then you should check out www.premiermobilegroup.com. They are regarded as one of THE BEST PPF (paint protection film) companies out there. They did my NSX and most people agree that it looks awesome.

One word of caution w/ clear bra. You get what you pay for. If you go w/ the lost cost option, you will get low cost results. Detailing Dynamics and Premier Mobile Group are two of the higher end shops. Pay more for a more experienced installer. It will save you from having to do it twice.

Wash your own car and once a year have Mike Lee detail it. Have him do it just before the summer meets get going. It will be money well spent. DO NOT get your NSX washed at a local car wash - the potential for damaging something is higher and the cost involved greater.

Finally, do a search. You will find that your questions have been asked and answered in the past.

Welcome. You'll have lots of fun w/ your NSX.

Ahh, thanks for the heads up. Lou gave me a list of all the parts, but I kinda forgot off the top of my head.

I'll definitely give Mike a call. I'm probably going to get a new set of tires first, then go for the clear bra.

Yea, I try not to get cars washed by machine or the smaller car wash venues. I think the NSX is too low to get washed by their machines, thankfully.

    Thanks again!
